5-Star QB Max Browne: 5 Reasons Nation's No. 1 QB Signs with Oklahoma Sooners
For this read, we're just going to give you five reasons why Browne could indeed sign with the Sooners. It should be a fun read, as we'll have some fun with it.
He's also considering schools like USC and Alabama among others. However, we're going to focus on the Oklahoma Sooners for this read.
5. Chance to Replace Landry Jones
1 of 5In sports, it's better to be the guy who replaces the guy who replaced the legend than to be the guy to replace the legend yourself. Somehow, Landry Jones has done an outstanding job in replacing Sam Bradford at OU.
However, Max Browne has a chance to replace Jones, which is the situation that is ideal in sports. Why not head to OU, battle it out with Blake Bell, Trevor Knight, Drew Allen and Kendal Thompson?
If you're Browne, you have to figure with you being the incoming No. 1 QB in the country, you'd have a prime chance to win the job as a true freshman.
4. Josh Heupel
2 of 5Huepel put in good work during his heyday as Sooner QB—good enough work to win a national title for OU in 2000.
Now Huepel is the Sooner offensive coordinator and QB coach and is regarded as a rising star in the coaching ranks. Browne spent a ton of time with Huepel during a recent visit to Norman and the two hit it off.
Should Browne head to Norman, he'd be coached by a guy who's personally experienced facets of college life and football life that Browne will endure during his career for OU. That's a grand opportunity.
3. Sooner Offense
3 of 5That's a mega-sized plus for the Sooners, as Browne runs a similar style of offense and feels he can learn the OU system quickly; that could put him in position to get early playing time.
Oklahoma runs a mostly spread offense, with heavy shotgun and multiple wide receiver sets. Throwing the football is big in Norman, and it's a QB's dream of an offense.
Browne would have a chance to put up big numbers as the Sooner QB, and he seems to know that.
2. Talent Around Him
4 of 5The Sooners are a perennial top-tier recruiting school, year in and year out. They attract a good wealth of talent, and their roster is always stocked with prime-time prospects.
Browne would not be selling himself short of surrounding his talents with weapons, should he choose Oklahoma, and he seems to know this too.
1. Winning
5 of 5Oklahoma is 139-34 under Bob Stoops. They win folks...a lot.
The Sooners were the preseason No. 1 team in the country last year and have competed for Big 12 titles and BCS bowls pretty much every year.
They play big-time football in Norman. Browne seems to know this, as well.
