March Madness Scores 2012: Syracuse and Winners Who Should Start Panicking
For most teams, winning a game in the NCAA tournament is its own reward. However, there were some winners in the second round that don't need to be celebrating right now.
In fact, these teams should plan on packing their bags to go home a lot sooner than anticipated. Perhaps this is an overreaction to one game—after all, everyone is entitled to a close call. All that matters is they won the game.
However, there are certain, specific reasons that these teams need to be in panic mode. Here are the victors who are going to come out of this weekend wondering where it went wrong.

Report: Biggest Spenders in Men's CBB 🤑
Syracuse (def. UNC-Asheville, 72-65)
Everyone knew that Syracuse would be a different team without Fab Melo, but few expected the problems to show up so quickly.
Against No. 16 UNC-Asheville, the Orange played lifeless basketball. Obviously, some credit has to go to the Bulldogs for taking advantage of opportunities, but there is no reason that a team as talented as Syracuse should be fighting for its life.
The Orange have to feel lucky to get out of the Round of 64. Unfortunately, that is as far as they will be going this year, because Kansas State is going to run all over them on Saturday.
Baylor Bears (def. San Diego State, 68-60)
The biggest problem that Baylor has had this season is playing like a team. On talent alone, there are few teams in the country that can match what the Bears have. Perry Jones III, Brady Heslip, Quincy Acy and Pierre Jackson are as strong as any foursome.
However, a slow start against San Diego State brought all the doubts and skeptics out. Things did turn around in a hurry, but it was yet another reminder about why they were never quite as good as the talent said they should be.
Colorado shocked UNLV in the second around, and have the shooters to jump all over the Bears in their matchup on Saturday. The Buffaloes did not get any respect coming into the tournament, but they proved they are legitimate against a very good team on Thursday.
A win is a win. However, it was a telling victory for the Bears, and not in a good way.
VCU (def. Wichita State, 62-59)
Whenever the Rams win a tournament game, everyone stands up and cheers. Shaka Smart has built this program into one that deserves national respect.
However, there were holes that the Shockers exposed early before they were run out of the gym. You can attack VCU's defense if you move the ball around and hit the open man.
Their next opponent will be Indiana, which is as fast and athletic on the offensive side of the ball as any team in the country. The Hoosiers have a great mix of shooters with Christian Watford and Jordan Hulls, and the inside presence of Cody Zeller.
It would be foolish to underestimate what the Rams are capable of at this point, but they have a lot of things to cure in a short amount of time.
