Obama's Bracket: Why the President's Final Four Is Spot on
I have to be honest here—I've projected the exact same Final Four as President Obama. What can I say?
Great minds think alike.
The President avoided a lot of upsets in his bracket in the early rounds (you can check out his bracket here) and I didn't see eye-to-eye with him on a lot of his picks. But once he hit the Elite Eight, well, I was mostly with him.

I don't agree with his picks of Syracuse (which he probably submitted before Fab Melo was ruled academically ineligible) or Michigan State advancing to the Elite Eight, but I understood them.
But I totally agreed with Kentucky, Baylor, Missouri, Ohio State, North Carolina and Kansas. Likewise, I think his Final Four of Kentucky, Missouri, Ohio State and North Carolina are spot on.
Kentucky is a no-brainer in my opinion. Missouri's explosive offense and a bracket up to the Elite Eight I think is totally manageable for them—Marquette is the only true threat to them—makes them a smart pick.
Ohio State could potentially face a brutal Sweet 16 matchup against a very good Florida State team, but I think Jared Sullinger, Deshaun Thomas, William Buford and a solid Ohio State defense (59.1 points per game allowed) will carry them past the Seminoles.
And I love North Carolina, and I'm not in the least concerned with the team's loss to Florida State in the championship game of the tournament. If John Henson, two-time ACC Defensive Player of the Year, had played, I believe the outcome would have been different.
Of course, if Henson can't go—or can't go effectively—in the NCAA tournament, the Tar Heels could hit a snafu, namely if they run into a very good Kansas team and Thomas Robinson in the Elite Eight.
So yes, I love the President's Final Four. I enjoy his basketball knowledge, even if I also feel compelled to tip my cap toward his political savvy.
Have your cake and eat it too, Mr. President. Here's to hoping our Final Four predictions come true.
