NCAA Tournament 2012 Bracket: Teams That Could Bust Your Bracket
Every year, March Madness is as full of upsets as it is expected outcomes, but these four teams could easily be this year's VCU or George Mason and ruin your precious bracket.
VCU:
It feels weird to say VCU could be this year's VCU, but it has a high chance of happening once again. In 2011, many (including myself) saw their bracket's implode thanks to Shaka Smart's squad, as they steamrolled Georgetown, took down Purdue, and beat top-ranked Kansas to reach the Final Four.

Report: Biggest Spenders in Men's CBB 🤑
In 2012, Smart and his team are ranked No. 12 in the South bracket with Wichita State as their first potential victim. VCU could easily take out their first round opponent, and Indiana or New Mexico State don't exactly scare me in the second round if they're taking on the Rams. As ESPN's Doug Gottlieb stated this past Wednesday on SportsCenter, the fourth seeds in this tournament are weak ones and that could lead to another Cinderella dance for VCU.
Harvard:
Since Harvard alum Jeremy Lin and this year's squad shined light down on the basketball program over in Cambridge, Massachusetts, the esteemed university has been everyone's sexy upset special.
I'm going to try my best to fit into that cramped bandwagon and tell you that Harvard is a big threat in the East. Vanderbilt has been calling themselves the "Harvard of the South" as of late, but as Yahoo! Sports writer Eddie Pells stated, that's not the same as being Harvard.
The Crimson are making their first NCAA tournament appearance since just after World War II in 1946, and they will come out with a fire. Vanderbilt has lost all but two of their contests against nationally ranked opponents and comes into the tournament having lost two of the past three games.
Harvard has won 14 of their last 16 contests heading into their game against Vandy today.
Belmont:
While I can't say I've seen a ton of Belmont Bruins games this season, I have watched Georgetown fall short in the tournament for several years now. The Hoyas were blown out by VCU last year and haven't looked like themselves since making their last Final Four appearance in 2007.
I'm not waving my flag hoping for a Belmont victory, as I myself picked Georgetown to win this contest, but the Bruins haven't lost since mid-January and the Hoyas have become upset-prone.
Belmont Coach Rick Byrd told the Associated Press that he believes his opponent will "Take the floor expecting a win." Which has perhaps been Georgetown's problem the past few seasons.
Ohio:
Ohio was five points away from defeating No. 5 Louisville back in November, so don't be surprised if they come out five points ahead of Michigan in the tournament.
As Gottlieb said, the fourth seeds are quite vulnerable in this year's tournament, and the Wolverines will be without Trey Burke for this contest. The Bobcats could catch their nationally recognized opponent looking past them in this game, and that paired with stellar play could lead to an early-tournament upset.
