Laurent Robinson: Former Cowboys WR Signs Contract With Jacksonville Jaguars
The Jacksonville Jaguars are desperate for help at wide receiver, and Wednesday, they took a major step in shoring up the problem.
ESPN’s Adam Schefter was first to report that the team has reached an agreement with Laurent Robinson:
"Jacksonville reached agreement with former Dallas free-agent wide receiver Laurent Robinson on a five-year, $32.5 million deal.

Those numbers don’t mean a whole lot in the ruthless NFL, but Sirius Radio host Adam Caplan was able to confirm that Robinson will get $14 million in guaranteed money:
"Source confirms Laurent Robinson agrees to a 5 yr deal with the Jaguars worth $32 million with $14 million guaranteed.

The fifth-year pro is coming off a career year in 2011. He caught 54 passes for 858 yards and 11 TDs and took full advantage of his opportunity to start when Miles Austin and Dez Bryant went down with various injuries.
Before last year, Robinson had never cracked the 500-yard barrier; he was nothing more than a third option.
At 27, has Robinson already peaked, or will the opportunity to be a No. 1 or No. 2 be the remedy for him to become a 1,000-yard receiver?
I’m going with the former.
He has never played a full season, missing 28 out of a potential 80 games in his career. He doesn’t have any particular skill that truly stands out and is now saddled with arguably the worst QB in the league.
Blaine Gabbert was awful last season and did not show signs of improvement as the year went along. He needs a player that can help him out, a guy that he can simply wing the ball to and be confident it will be caught.
Robinson isn’t that guy, and the opinion of the Jaguars' passing game has not been altered today. But, their pockets sure are lighter.
