College Football Recruiting: The 5 Most Dominant Recruiting Schools Right Now

Edwin WeathersbyJun 7, 2018

Here we go!

Which schools, right now at this very moment, are the most dominant and suffocating recruiting powerhouses? Who? Well, to answer that, I'm going to power rank the top-five fully dominant recruiting schools.

This is for right now! Who rules college-football recruiting? Which programs have really done well for themselves lately over the past couple of years?

Let's see!

5. Florida

1 of 5

The Gators are a perennial top-five recruiting school and really flourished under former head coach Urban Meyer. They finished last year with the fourth-best class overall and were in the running for many of the nation's best prospects.

Florida is already sitting on 10 commitments for 2013, and last year in his first full year as head coach, Will Muschamp landed a top-five class.

Not sure if it's the colors of the uniform, the talent, facilities, past players or anything else, but Florida is among the dominant recruiting schools every year.

4. Michigan

2 of 5

I'm going with Michigan at this spot due to the fact that is a piece for "right now." The Wolverines landed a top-six class last year under Brady Hoke in his first full cycle on the trail at Michigan.

This year, right now, I must stress, Big Blue is doing outstanding yet again. An amazing 15 players have already committed to Michigan, and that includes five-star QB Shane Morris, talented DB Dymonte Thomas, LB Michael McCray and stud OLs Patrick Kugler, Kyle Bosch and Chris Fox.

Right now, in today's recruiting world, Michigan is surely and clearly a dominant powerhouse on the trail.

3. Texas

3 of 5

You really don't see Texas mentioned much on a national level with prospects because Mack Brown and his staff rarely leave the state. In the event that you do see Texas recruiting a non-Texan, then that means the Longhorns really, really, really like that player.

Other than that, Texas just sits back and gobbles up talent in the talent-rich Lone Star State. Luckily for them, Texas is one of three prime hotbeds and the "gettin' is good."

Brown almost always has Texas lurking in the vicinity of the No.1 overall class, and it pretty much is a top-five recruiting school year in and year out. This year is no different, as the Longhorns hold 13 commitments and two of which are five-star prospects.

2. Florida State

4 of 5

If you don't think the 'Noles are back to their old ways in recruiting, then you're just hating. That's a fact, folks. Because FSU is a purely dominant school, and Jimbo Fisher and his staff have gotten them back on track.

FSU landed the nation's No.1 class last year and has been a top-five recruiting school in each cycle since Fisher replaced Bobby Bowden. Last year, the 'Noles hauled in the No. 2 class in the country, and this year, they already have eight commitments.

With Florida State back among the elite recruiting powerhouses, this is starting to feel like the '90s all over again.

1. Alabama

5 of 5

Love 'em or hate 'em, who else would be here right now? You have to respect Alabama. Even if you're not a fan of how they do things, you still have to respect the two recent national titles, the recruiting dominance and more.

The Tide had the nation's No.1 class last year and were among the nation's elite classes in 2011. On the trail, it's practically a gold standard when a prospect boasts an offer from 'Bama.

Right now, the Tide sit with nine commitments towards their 2013 efforts and are in the hunt for many of the country's top five- and four-star prospects.

Nothing will change anytime soon, as Alabama is the premier, dominant recruiting powerhouse in college football today—bar none.
