Lakers Rumors: Latest Odds on L.A.'s Most Likely Deadline Deals

Haddon AndersonMar 14, 2012

Trade rumors are buzzing louder than a raging hornet right now, and many of them are centered upon the Los Angeles Lakers.

As the trade deadline nears, what are the odds that some of these potential deals become realities?

That's what we're here to analyze. We'll unpack various potentials and discern the chances of them actually happening, beginning with the latest on Pau Gasol.

Gasol to the Bulls?

The Bulls are interested, that's for sure, but L.A. and Chicago cannot seem to see eye-to-eye on a deal.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the Bulls offered Carlos Boozer and C.J. Watson, which was not enough for L.A. to pull the trigger.

The Lakers then countered by asking for Joakim Noah, another player believed to be Watson and two first round picks, but this sparked no interest from Chicago.

Therefore, this deal is unlikely to get done unless a third team gets involved, and even then the Bulls may bow out because they clearly don't want to give up too much to land Gasol.

Odds on this deal: 10/1

Ramon Sessions to the Lakers?

The Lakers clearly need an upgrade at point guard, but they apparently rejected a Pau Gasol for Rajon Rondo deal.

Thus, are they planning to look elsewhere for an upgrade?

Cleveland point guard Ramon Sessions is available, but the Lakers have been unwilling to give up a draft pick to land him.

But that could change in the next day as the Lakers realize how desperate they are for a floor general. Sessions is a solid option and could greatly improve the L.A. backcourt.

Odds on this deal: 3/1

Josh Smith for Pau Gasol?

A swap of Josh Smith and Pau Gasol would seem to be a nice fit for both teams. Both players could use a change of scenery.

But the Hawks have indicated that they're not seeking to trade Smith, so Laker fans can basically eliminate the hope of acquiring the versatile forward.

The only way this deal happens is if Atlanta has a sudden change of heart.

Odds on this deal: 50/1

Kirk Hinrich to the Lakers?

The Lakers and Hawks had discussions earlier this month about a potential trade involving Kirk Hinrich, but they've yet to strike a deal.

Is there a reason to think they'll suddenly work this out prior to the deadline? Not really.

The Hawks are likely asking for what the Lakers perceive to be too much in return for Hinrich. It could still happen, but the odds are better that the Lakers will acquire a different point guard.

Odds on this deal: 6/1

Raymond Felton to the Lakers?

Here's a very realistic scenario, and the Lakers and Blazers are apparently in discussions about this.

The deal would likely feature a swap of Felton and Lakers point guard Steve Blake, and the Lakers would almost surely have to include another piece.

Acquiring Felton is a good idea for the Lakers and a great idea for Felton. He could use a fresh start in a new location.

Odds on this deal: 2/1

That's the latest from the Lakers camp. We all know that a random deal could arise in the next 24 hours, but as of now expect the Lakers to snag Felton while continuing to probe Gasol deals.

However, a Gasol deal is unlikely at this point unless the Lakers receive an offer they can't refuse.
