Obama's Bracket: President Will Regret Not Making Upset Picks in NCAA Tournament
President Obama has filled out his fourth consecutive NCAA Tournament bracket, and he’ll hopefully have more luck than in the past.
The POTUS is a sucker for top seeds, and it’s no different in 2012, having picked Kentucky, Ohio State, Missouri and UNC for the Final Four.
You'd think he would have shaken it up in an election year.

He has picked Kansas in the past two seasons to win it all and watched them suffer early exits. Obama hasn’t been correct on a title winner since 2009, when the Tar Heels won it all.
During the “Barack-etology” segment on ESPN’s Wednesday morning SportsCenter show, Andy Katz met up with Barack and filled out the Sweet 16, Elite Eight, Final Four and Championship Game portions of his bracket.
Of course, he picked North Carolina to win it all again.
Perhaps it’s because the Prez plays it safe and doesn’t take a gamble on any upset picks to go deep.
For the 2012 NCAA tournament, the only major Cinderella stories that Obama believes will happen are the NC State Wolfpack and New Mexico Lobos going to the Sweet 16.
Besides that, he doesn't make any real gambles and refuses to believe there will be a VCU-like team making a deep run, as has been the case in recent tournaments.
Perhaps the President is banking on it being a 2008-type competition, where all four No. 1 seeds wound up in the Final Four.
That doesn’t seem likely, especially considering the mid-major Butler Bulldogs have been to two straight championship games and March Madness almost always involves a Cinderella team getting hot and fighting its way into the Elite Eight or even Final Four.
Obama might be right on who will win, but he’s going to wish he had picked another bottom-seeded program or two to make a splash.
