Buffalo Bills Shouldn't Wait to Make Mario Williams an Offer He Can't Refuse
It's promising for the Buffalo Bills that they were the first team to earn a visit with free agent defensive end Mario Williams, as reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN.
What's not so promising, though, is that there are three teams supposedly lined up for visits after the Bills, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.
The teams' names were not disclosed, which might have helped give an idea as to whether the Bills could be considered the front runners. At least then, we'd know what teams to compare their cap space to.

That being said, the Bills have a substantial amount of room to work with under the cap, and shouldn't have a problem matching whatever other offer he receives. But the Bills always fight an uphill battle in landing the big name free agents for three reasons:
- They're always rebuilding.
- They're in the difficult-to-win AFC East.
- They're located in the city of Buffalo.
Yes, it appears the Bills will have to blow Williams away with an offer he simply can't refuse to prevent him from visiting with other teams.
If they don't, he might realize just how much greener the grass is elsewhere.
The Bills plan to switch to the 4-3 front despite not having a true 4-3 defensive end. Signing Mario Williams would address that need, while adding some much-needed pass rush to their defensive front, which generated 29 sacks in 2011 (tied for 27th in the NFL).
UPDATE: According to a league source via Mark Gaughan of The Buffalo News, the Bills want to make Williams the highest-paid defensive player in the league.
