NCAA Tournament 2012 Predictions: Upsets You Won't See Coming
The name March Madness didn't come from nowhere.
In the NCAA tournament, any team can beat any team. The powerhouse teams can be defeated and the smaller schools can go all the way to the Final Four.
It does not matter what seed school's are given or who is ranked where, Cinderella teams are becoming more and more common.
Who will shock the world this month?
Belmont over Georgetown
1 of 5Belmont is a good shooting team and can push the pace of the game. They maintain possession of the ball better than Georgetown does, too, as they turn the ball over less and force turnovers more often.
The Hoyas played the tougher schedule between the two teams, but they are young and inexperienced. Belmont has Ian Clark, Kerron Johnson and Drew Hanlen, three guards with tournament experience.
The Bruins have a good chance at pulling off an upset in the first round.
Montana over Wisconsin
2 of 5Montana has won 14 games in a row heading into the tournament.
They had little trouble in the Big Sky Conference Tournament and easily won the championship game by 19 points over Weber State.
Kareem Jamar and Will Cherry run the backcourt for the Grizzlies and could give Wisconsin a handful.
The Badgers were in the thick of the Big Ten, arguably the best conference top to bottom this year, so it will be a tough game for Montana.
Ohio over Michigan
3 of 5The Wolverines may have peaked too early in the season. They were blown out of the Big Ten tournament by Ohio State after squeaking past Minnesota in overtime.
Ohio and Michigan are similar teams that rely heavily on the play of their guards. The Wolverines may have more depth with Trey Burke, Tim Hardaway Jr., Stu Douglass and Zack Novak, but Ohio has come on strong late in the season.
New Mexico State over Indiana
4 of 5Nationally, the Aggies are ranked sixth in rebounding and 11th in scoring. Wendell McKines leads the team with 18.8 points and 10.8 boards per game.
McKines is sure to give co-Big Ten Freshman of the Year Cody Zeller a hard time and may be too much for the young Hoosier to handle.
The Aggies have won nine of their last 10 games and four in a row. They are getting hot at the right time.
Texas over Cincinnati
5 of 5Texas has had an up and down season. They have played tough against Baylor, Kansas and Missouri in conference play.
Cincinnati is a very good team but cannot take the Longhorns lightly, even though they snuck into the tournament after being a bubble team. They have big men to play in the paint which could play a major role in the outcome of the game.
Texas is more than capable of pulling off an upset early in the tournament.
