Sidney Crosby: Peguins Superstar Set to Return vs. Rangers Thursday
Sidney Crosby's long journey back to the ice will culminate with his return to game action on Thursday when the Pittsburgh Penguins go on the road to play the New York Rangers, according to a report from the team's official website.
"I feel good and the plan is to play Thursday," Crosby said. "I got a good practice and I'm looking forward to getting out there Thursday."
Crosby hasn't played since December 5, after dealing with concussion-like symptoms. He was cleared for contact last week and is now poised to make his return to the NHL.

What It Means
The Penguins are basically pulling off a de facto blockbuster deal without having to give up anything. When healthy, Crosby is the best and most dynamic player in the world.
He changes games like no one else in the sport.
To top it off, the Penguins have the second-most points (89) in the Eastern Conference right now, just four behind the New York Rangers.
Crosby is a true game-changer in the league. The Penguins go from a team bunched in with other contenders to a clear favorite to at least play for the Stanley Cup, if not win it.
What Happens Next?
Crosby has to prove that he can handle the physicality that comes with playing in the NHL. Getting back on the ice is a huge story on its own. Now that he is here, Crosby has to show that his health will cooperate.
It will be interesting to see how the Penguins handle Crosby, especially in this first game. It's hard to imagine them allowing him to play 20 minutes—which is what he was at before the concussion symptoms came back—right out of the gate.
All of that is for the team to determine. The most important thing is that Crosby is back and ready to go.
