Seattle Seahawks 2009 NFL Mock Draft (Updated)
My suggested picks for rounds one through four:
First Round - fourth overall: Eugene Monroe OT Virginia, Michael Crabtree WR TTU, Aaron Curry LB WF. Brian Orakpo DE/LB Texas (Pictured).
Michael Crabtree would be an awesome solution for our WR troubles, and would address our WR issues of both size and speed. However i would not be surprised if another team like St. Louis jumped on him, or even Detroit as we have seen them use early picks carelessly in recent years. If Crabtree is still sitting at number four, yes, pick him. It would be a shame to see Crabtree drafted by a team with uncertainty at QB.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
Sorry, no more Taylor Mays (my previous top pick) as he will return to USC to finish his senior year.
I have kept my other top picks but added one more, that being Brian Orakpo of Texas. At around 6'4", 255 he has the ability to rush the pass, but is also capable of dropping back in coverage. The Seahawks have a major decision to make regarding Leroy Hill who is a free agent this season. Hill will come with a high price tag thanks to a solid '08 season, therefore it might be worth it to let Hill go and draft a replacement like Orakpo. The defense needs a shake-up beginning with more size at LB like Orakpo who would be an excellent run stopper.
Second Round - Darrius Heyward-Bey WR Maryland, Sen'Derrick Marks DT Auburn. Patrick Chung S Oregon
This early second round pick for the 'Hawks could just as important as the first. If Crabtree is not selected by the Seahawks, Heyward-Bey could be a sleeper second round pick due to his lack of QB last season. with size and speed he could be perfect for adding depth to the shaky WR position.
Also with the possible departure of Rocky Bernard (DT) the seahawks could use a player like Marks to be more than just a clean-up sack DT who can keep up with the improving Brandon Mebane.
With Taylor Mays unavailable the seahawks still need to improve their secondary. A solid 2nd round safety like Patrick Chung would provide an improvement to run and pass coverage taking the place of the struggling Brian Russell.
Third Round - Kraig Urbik OG Wisconsin, Michael Hamlin S Clemson, Juaquin Iglesias WR OU, Derrick Williams WR Penn State
Once again, the Seahawks need to address the issue at the strong safety position. If no other safety has been selected by Seattle, Michael Hamlin could be a solid pick.
In the second and third round the Seahawks need to pick through a draft class with solid depth at safety and wide receiver.
Fourth Round - Pat White QB WVU, David Johnson QB Tulsa
These are my picks based on the type of investment I believe is necessary at these positions for the Seahawks next season. Tell me what you think as this is going to become much more of a discussion as the off-season progresses.
