Now that you have your bracket, you can see why VCU, Harvard and Texas are getting some love.
The classic 12-5 upset is always a trendy pick, and big-time programs like to draw attention as well.
Tread cautiously, though, for the trendy pick is not always the right pick.
VCU (12) over Wichita State (5)
The committee loves to do this to us, basically wasting two possible Cinderellas against one another. We can't really call Wichita State a Cinderella, but if they weren't playing VCU, people would be more excited about them.
The Shockers are legit, though, and can score the basketball with ease.
People are going to be excited about VCU because of their CAA tournament run, and they can't help but think back to last year.
That would be a mistake because this is not the same team.
Harvard (12) over Vanderbilt (5)
The Crimson are the coveted Ivy League representative and certainly an exciting possibility to knock off the SEC tournament champs.
Vandy is one of those teams that could stay hot and make a legit run in this tourney, or they could miss the mark entirely and be sent home early.
Harvard was beyond lucky to make the tournament, and that luck will run out eventually.
The Commodores are simply too much for the Crimson to handle.
Texas (11) over Cincinnati (6)
The Longhorns are a questionable tourney team at best.
They snuck in with a Big 12 tournament win over Iowa State, but that was all they could accomplish. Cincinnati, meanwhile, made a nice run through the Big East tournament before losing to Louisville in the final.
The Bearcats are a battle-tested group with the potential to make a solid run into this tournament as well.
Don't mistake Texas' appearance in this tournament as something the committee knows that we don't. The Longhorns are an overrated bunch that won't survive to play in the second round.
