No.1 Overall Recruit Robert Nkemdiche: The Pros for Him Signing with Alabama
Robert Nkemdiche is the top player in the country for 2013 and has scholarship offers from pretty much every major power in the country. He's an uber-talented DL that could play DE, DT or even OLB in college.
He's the younger brother of Ole Miss defensive back Denzel Nkemdiche, and while the Rebels are in the race, many feel Alabama is the team to beat right now for Robert Nkemdiche.
For this read, I'm going to give you a couple pros for him, should he indeed choose to sign with the Crimson Tide.
5. SEC Competition and National Exposure
1 of 5With 'Bama belonging to the SEC, a chance to come in and be a star in the best league in college football is a grand opportunity.
The SEC talent level only continues to increase, and Nkemdiche has a chance to be a standout among a sea of top tier talents in the conference.
The national exposure is also a plus, as Alabama is the premier program in the country, and with a player of Nkemdiche's decoration and acclaim, he'll have national allure in no time.
4. Staying in the South
2 of 5Nkemdiche is from Loganville, GA, which is not too from Atlanta. Atlanta is pretty much the capital of the South, and if you look at the schools that interest Nkemdiche, you see that sticking around the South is the theme.
If he signs with the Tide, he gets to stick around in the South and play football.
3. Chance to Play the JACK LB Position
3 of 5Two cycles ago, Nick Saban tried to convince Jadeveon Clowney to come to 'Bama and play the JACK OLB spot. It's a spot where you have a super talented athlete that has size, strength, speed, quickness and agility, and you use him to make plays all over the field.
From rushing the passer to covering RBs and TEs, the JACK LB spot in a 3-4 scheme is built for playmakers.
Remember when Jason Taylor won the NFL Defensive Player of the Year award in 2006? That was playing the JACK OLB position, for which Nkemdiche has the athleticism to play for 'Bama.
2. Playing Under Kirby Smart and Nick Saban
4 of 5Smart is one of the best defensive coordinators in the game today, and Saban's work and resume speaks for itself.
If Nkemdiche wants to be coached up, developed right, seasoned well and prepared for the NFL, then learning from these two would be a grand way to do that.
The chance to get accustomed to an NFL type of defense would prepare Nkemdiche for the league, expand his mind for the game and develop his technique and hand use ability.
1. Winning Championships
5 of 5Alabama is coming off its second national title under Nick Saban and regularly competes for SEC titles and BCS titles.
If Nkemdiche wants to win championships and always be in the position to win football games, it probably doesn't get any better than 'Bama.
We've seen the recruiting classes the Crimson Tide have hauled in the past few years, so the roster is not really deprived of talent, which is going to surround Nkemdiche with talented teammates to help him win conference and national titles.
