WGC Cadillac Championship 2012: Woods Will Climb Leaderboard in Third Round
After shooting a score of 67 in Round 2 of the 2012 Cadillac Championship, Tiger Woods sits seven shots behind tournament leader Bubba Watson.
If Woods plans on getting himself in contention, he almost has to soar up the leaderboard in Round 3 and that's exactly what he'll do.
Woods has showed instances of his game being back to normal in recent weeks. At the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am, Woods shot eight under for the tournament. At The Honda Classic, Woods shot 10 under. We are looking at a golfer who is gaining confidence with every swing. We are looking at a golfer who is finding his game piece-by-piece.
This doesn't bode well for the rest of the tour.
The Cadillac Championship is just another example of Woods getting his mojo back. This process is going to take time, but it will come eventually. For one of the best golfers in the world to lose all of his touch is truly hard to imagine. He has found his groove and it's proving itself.
Winning the tournament would be great for Woods, but playing well works quite fine. Given his play last year, Woods needed to find his consistency. I think we can say that he's as close to finding that consistent play as we seen in a long time.
After getting off to an average start in Round 1 with four bogeys, Woods didn't record one in Round 2. His play was consistent, only recording pars and birdies. Woods is hitting 57 percent of the fairways from his tee-shot, a number that must be increased if he plans on making a run. He's got to put himself in the best position possible from tee to putt.
We saw Woods' play increase in the final day of The Honda Classic shooting an eight-under-par and we are about to see him continue to churn out low scores. Woods' name will be in the Top 10 or even Top 5 after Saturday's performance.
Prediction: -4
