2013 Florida Football Recruiting: Top Commits, Players Considering the Gators
Florida's 2013 recruiting aspirations are major, pretty much because they always are every year in Gainesville. Will Muschamp will look to get this program back on top of the SEC this year, and it's a crucial year on the field and on the trail in Gainesville.
The Gators already have gotten off to a great start, as they will be looking to land a top five class for the second consecutive year in the Will Muschamp era.
I'm just here to take a look at their top commitments and other elite players that are thinking hard about doing the Gator Chomp for the next four years.
2013 Florida Recruiting Class Capsule
1 of 6The Gators count 10 committed prospects to their 2013 class right now. It's tough to predict what the final total will be, but I'd set the over/under number at 20, maybe higher.
According to Scout.com, eight players have stars attached to their name, with three being rated 4-star prospects. The highest-ranked player in LB Daniel McMillan, whom Scout lists as its No. 3 MIKE LB prospect in the country.
Other names to look out for include: RB Kelvin Taylor, DB Nick Washington and DT Caleb Brantley.
Top Commitment: Daniel McMillan, LB
2 of 6At 6'2" and 220 pounds, McMillan is one of the best prospects in the Sunshine State for 2013. He's an attack-style defender that also plays with an emotional demeanor on the field.
McMillan shows great range, as he can bust up sweeps to the edges, has good speed to chase and pursue and is a physical hitter. He likely is best in the middle where he can cover the entire field, as opposed to being asked to play a specific side.
He's got a huge amount of potential, will improve on reading his keys and I can see him being a three-down 'backer in Gainesville.
Florida in Top 2 for Nation's No. 1 Offensive Lineman
3 of 6Laremy Tunsil, a 6'6", 285-pound OT from Lake City, FL, is generally viewed as the No. 1 OL in the country for 2013.
Last year, the Gators hauled in 5-star OL D.J. Humphries and top-tier OL Jessamen Dunker. This year could bring them Tunsil, who is an athletic OT with good mirror ability, quick feet and a big upside.
Tunsil told Scout.com last month that Florida, along with Georgia, are his top two. Also watch out for Alabama and Florida State.
5-Star DT Liked Gainesville Visit
4 of 6Ranked No. 11 overall and the top DT in the country, Montravius Adams is a 5-star recruit out of Georgia. He has offers from Alabama, Georgia, Miami, Florida State and USC.
Adams took a visit to Gainesville recently and reportedly enjoyed himself. "I see why they're always winning," Adams told Scout.com.
Gators Lead for Elite Sunshine State WR
5 of 6Stacy Coley is a 4-star WR from Oakland Park, FL, and the 6'3", 177-pounder is a long, lanky and smooth athlete. Coley has great gliding speed, length to aide his catch radius and can snatch balls in a crowd with ease.
Florida is the unquestioned leader, as Coley has the Gators as his top school right now. He visited Junior Day at UF and spoke at length with Gator WR coach Aubrey Hill.
I'd be surprised if Coley ended up elsewhere.
Bosa Has Florida in Top 5
6 of 6Joey Bosa is a 5-star DE from Fort Lauderdale, FL and stands a thick 6'5", 260 pounds. Bosa hails from national powerhouse St. Thomas Quinas and is used to winning football games.
He can play both the strong and weak side, and I wouldn't rule out him growing to be a defensive tackle in college. Bosa has recently narrowed down his list to a top five; Florida has made the cut.
Also on Bosa's radar is Alabama, Florida State, Ohio State and Wisconsin.
