Mr. Overrated: Go Favre, Farve Away
Sick of hearing about Brett Favre? Me too.
I can't take it anymore. I can't take hearing the two words, "Brett Favre". I want to hurl. Seriously.
Yes, I realize I'm going to be torn to pieces by all the Brett Favre lovers, but I don't care.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
He needs to hang it up. Not in a couple weeks or next year, he needs to do it now.
Favre is the most overrated athlete in sports history. Yes, I said it. Yes, he has one Super Bowl ring and three NFL MVPs. That's great. I'll give him that, but that's all I'm giving him.
The guy is not only overrated to the max, but he reminds me of my high school years. He's a drama queen.
When Brett Favre announced his retirement last year I was the happiest guy in the world. I no longer had to hear those two words ever again.
Then he came back.
I was thrilled to hear that his home for 16 years, the Green Bay Packers, no longer wanted him. I now love the Green Bay Packers. Why would they take him back? He retired. They had a young quarterback drafted in the first round in Aaron Rodgers.
Aaron Rodgers already has proved himself in one season, throwing 28 touchdowns to only 13 interceptions. He also finished ranked fourth in the NFL in passing with 4,038 yards.
On the other hand, Favre threw 22 touchdowns to as many interceptions. 22 interceptions? Favre led the league in the category, the closest to him being Jay Cutler at 18. On three different occasions in his career, Favre has tossed more interceptions than touchdowns in a single season. Twice he equaled his interceptions to his touchdowns in a season.
Favre has posted similar statistics in interceptions several times throughout his career. In 1993 he threw 24 passes to the other team, 23 in 1998 and '99, 21 in 2003, and a career high 29 in 2005. He led the league then in picks then, too.
20+ interceptions in a season is just unacceptable. Favre's done it six different times. He is the only player ever to throw 300 interceptions. He averages 18 interceptions every season. And let's not forget he's fumbled 157 times. The guy is a turnover machine.
You might make the argument that he is a winner. You're right, he is. Favre has posted 13 winning seasons. But he has only one ring to show for it.
He has tons and tons of records. Most passing touchdowns, passing yards, completions and attempts.
He also holds the most interceptions ever, most career games with at least three interceptions (that's shocking), most postseason interceptions, and most career playoff losses as a quarterback.
A quarterback rating of 81.0 this season ranked Favre 18th among all starting quarterbacks. He also has a lifetime rating of 85.4. Not impressive.
Besides the fact that Brett Favre turned the ball over more than anyone ever in the history of football, there had to be a reason why the Green Bay Packers didn't welcome him back.
Was it because he's too old? The Packers wanted a new start? I believe it's because he's not a team player.
I'm starting to think I'm not the only one tired of Brett Favre. Thomas Jones jumped aboard.
In a press conference earlier this week Jones expressed his anger with Favre's play by saying, "The reality is, you throw interceptions, I'm (ticked) off, I don't like it. You know what I'm saying? I don't like it, I know everybody else on the team doesn't like it."
I'd be ticked too.
Farve's unacceptable play and self-centered attitude has possibly led to the end of his career. Teammate Kerry Rhodes was asked if he would like Favre to return.
"If he's dedicated and he wants to come back and do this, and do it the right way," Rhodes said about Favre's possible return. "And be here when we're here in training camp and the mini camps and working out with us...then I'm fine with it. But don't come back if it's going to be half-hearted or he doesn't want to put the time in with us."
In a nice way Rhodes is basically stating that Favre isn't a team player and wants to do things his own way. Rhodes should have just come out and said "No, I don't like the guy." I would have.
An anonymous Jets player came out and said that he felt that Favre was distant from the rest of the team, and spent most of his time alone. Doesn't sound like a team player to me.
Favre actually said it the best.
"I'm an emotional guy, and I'm sure people are tired of seeing me get emotional. People would probably say, 'Oh, here he goes again.'"
Actually, yes, you're exactly right. That's what we are all thinking.
