Georgia Football: The Top 2013 in-State Recruits Who Can't Slip Away

Brian JonesJun 7, 2018

The state of Georgia has always been a talent bed for college football recruits, and for the most part Georgia head coach Mark Richt has done a solid job nabbing some of the state's top players.

2013 is no different when it comes to in-state talent, and once again the Bulldogs are hard at work getting verbal commitments from the top talent in Georgia.

Currently, the Bulldogs have six in-state players committed for next season. And while there is no doubt that there will be more Georgia players making a verbal commitment to the Bulldogs over the next 11 months, there are a few that the Bulldogs have to get in order to have a successful recruiting class.

Here's five players the Bulldogs can't let slip away.

Robert Nkemdiche: DE, Grayson HS, Loganville, Ga

1 of 5

This guy is the real deal.

Not only is Nkemdiche the best prospect in Georgia, but he is also considered by Rivals as the best prospect in the country. Standing at 6'5", 270 pounds, Nkemdiche has the tools to be a three-time All-American.

And when you are the top player in the United States, you get to choose any school. Fortunately for the Bulldogs, Nkemdiche has recently named UGA as one of his top five schools.

This is the guy the Bulldogs need to get in order to be a national title contender. Yes, he is that good.

Montravius Adams: DT, Dooly County HS, Vienna, Ga

Like Nkemdiche, Adams is physically impressive and should be able to play right away. Adams is not big enough to play the nose tackle position, but due to his explosion and quickness off the ball, he would fit right in as a defensive end for the Bulldogs.

Adams was recently at UGA's Junior Day, so the Bulldogs are doing everything they can to get the best defensive tackle prospect in the country.

Vonn Bell: S, Ridgeland HS, Rossville, Ga

With the lack of depth at secondary, the Bulldogs need to load up on defensive back talent, and Bell is the best safety prospect in the state.

Bell likes to deliver hits, closes on the ball well and has great hands. Last year, Bell has 180 total tackles, five interceptions, three forced fumbles and three recoveries for touchdowns. The Bulldogs were the first to offer Bell, but he is also taking a real hard look at Tennessee and Alabama.

Johnny O'Neal: ILB, West Laurens HS, Dublin, Ga

4 of 5

With Christian Robinson and Alec Ogletree on the verge of leaving soon, the Bulldogs need to add pieces to the inside linebacker spot.

Standing at 6'1", 220 pounds, O' Neal has the perfect size to be a 3-4 inside linebacker. And if you add his leadership skills and his high football IQ, O'Neal is exactly what a coach wants in a inside linebacker.

O'Neal has UGA in his top five, and he was the only linebacker at a previous UGA Junior Day. So the Bulldogs are working extremely hard to make sure he is in Athens next fall.

Shamire DeVine: OL, Tri-Cities HS, East Point, Ga

5 of 5

DeVine is a monster offensive tackle that knows how to move his opponents with ease. Standing at 6'7" 340 pounds, DeVine is what any coach wants out of a offensive tackle, and the Bulldogs have a very good chance of getting him signed.

DeVine is ranked No. 162 on the Rivals 250 for 2013, so he is getting a lot of looks for a lot of different schools. The one thing the Bulldogs don't want is to lose him to Georgia Tech, who is making a hard push at the lineman from Tri-Cities.
