Pac-12 Tournament 2012: Stars Who Will Shine Brightest in Hollywood

David DanielsMar 8, 2012

As a conference, the Pac-12 is a joke.

Somehow, someway, they don’t have a single squad ranked inside the top 25.  But while the teams as a whole are poor, talented players still exist.  Here are the top ones to pinpoint and pay attention to in the Pac-12 tournament:

7. Kyle Fogg

Arizona’s senior guard led the team in scoring this season with 13.5 points a game.  His performance on the other end of the court, though, is what makes him worthy of this list as he’s one of the most skilled defenders in the conference.

6. Andre Roberson

Roberson plays bigger than his 6’7”, 210-pound frame.  The Colorado forward averaged 11.2 points, 11.2 boards and 1.9 blocks this year for the Buffaloes.

5. Brock Motum

The 6’10”, 230-pound Motum finished second in the ACC in scoring with 18.1 points per game.  He also averaged 6.5 boards and while that number isn’t impressive for a man with his length, Motum shot 38.2 percent from downtown.

4. Jared Cunningham

The Oregon State shooting guard led the conference in scoring this season putting up 18.2 points a contest.  Cunningham is a strong athlete and despite his 194-pound frame, he’ll get to the rim.

3. Jorge Gutierrez

Gutierrez won the ACC Player of the Year award because he does it all for the Golden Bears.  The senior guard averages 12.9 points, 5.3 boards and 4.0 assists, but what the stat sheet doesn’t tell you is that he’s an elite defender.

2. Terrence Ross

Ross, like another teammate on the list, is a first-round prospect in the upcoming NBA draft.  His shooting ability is top-notch as the 2-guard is averaging 15.3 points a game for the Washington Huskies.  Ross not only uses his excellent athletic ability to get to the rim, but to rebound as well as he averages 6.6 per.

1. Tony Wroten

Washington’s floor general is a first-round prospect this summer thanks to phenomenal penetrating and passing ability.  He is averaging 16.3 points, 4.9 boards and 3.7 assists this season.  Despite being just a freshman, Wroten possesses the ability to carry the Huskies to a Pac-12 title.
