Ohio State Football: Urban Meyer Will Make QB Braxton Miller a Star
One of the biggest challenges new Ohio State football coach Urban Meyer will have in his first season in Columbus will be developing quarterback Braxton Miller into a real star.
Meyer's spread offense has benefited current NFL stars such as Tim Tebow and Alex Smith. There's no reason to think Miller cannot have a lot of success in this type of offense as well.
Miller is a very athletic quarterback, which is something you must be in the spread offense. His ability to make plays with his legs and arm will cause major problems for Big Ten defenses if he makes smart decisions.
The Buckeyes did not play well offensively last season and were not a very high-scoring team. They ranked 81st in points scored per game among all FBS teams, but with Meyer in charge, his spread offense should make the Buckeyes more dangerous.
You can be sure that after watching Miller in spring football, Meyer will find packages in the spread offense that suit his young quarterback well and give him the best chance to shine.
Meyer will unlock the amazing talent Miller has and turn him into a better pocket passer. Tebow became a much better passer under Meyer; there's no reason that Miller cannot improve fundamentally with Meyer's elite coaching.
Not only will Meyer help Miller become a better player, he will also make sure his teammates on offense realize their full potential. By helping his wide receivers and running backs become better players, Meyer will make Miller's job leading the offense much easier.
Miller had a nice freshman season, rushing for 715 yards while throwing for another 1,159 with 20 total touchdowns.
As a sophomore, Miller will become a real star in Meyer's proven spread offense that allows quarterbacks to realize their full potential.
