Spain vs. Venezuela: Dominant Spanish Have No Need for Slumping Fernando Torres
Spain coach Vicente del Bosque didn't have a very tough decision on whether or not to drop Fernando Torres from the squad. The Chelsea striker has played so poorly that even he had to expect to be excluded at some point.
It is the first time in five years he's not be part of La Roja's senior side, but he has only himself to blame for that.
FIFA's No. 1-ranked squad and the reigning World Cup champions simply have too much talent to rest on sentimental moves such as keeping Torres on the squad.

Andrés Iniesta and David Silva have already found the back of the net in the first half of Spain's friendly with Venezuela, as they've been pummeling the net throughout the opening 45 minutes. David Villa isn't even fit, and they're making things look easy.
Torres, on the other hand, has not found anything easy at all since his record transfer from Liverpool to Chelsea a year ago.
He's scored only five goals since the transfer and hasn't been able to hold down a spot in the starting XI despite numerous chances. Chelsea is having a down year themselves and have just dropped to fifth in the league table.
Torres is part of the problem for them; not the solution.
He also is no solution for La Roja anymore, and they seem to be doing just fine.
Expect the world's most talented squad to continue doing what they do: dominating.
