A traditional unlike any other: Rich Eisen of the NFL Network running the 40-yard dash at the combine.
With all of the festivities winding down at Indy, Eisen and his crew always like to end the pressure-filled week on a light note. What better way to get the blood flowing than a 40-yard sprint after a week of sitting in a chair and talking about other people doing it.
With the option of the Cam Newton high-tops or the low-tops suggested by coworker Deion Sanders, Eisen went with the flamboyant red and light blue low-tops.

After stretching out while somehow keeping his shirt tucked, it was go time.
He started off quickly out of the blocks, looking like Robert Griffin III. But as the race wore on you could tell his suit jacket and tie were not exactly the most aerodynamic pieces of clothing. The pocket square didn’t help either.
Yet he shook off the hindrances and was still able to record a 6.03, tying his record set last year. He was still pretty far off from defensive lineman Dominique Hamilton from Missouri, who ran a combine worst 5.54.
Eisen has been running the event since 2005, and NFL Network stat guru Matt Pomeroy has the results of year’s past:
"Rich Eisen's Combine 40 times:2011: 6.03,2010: 6.21,2009: 6.34,2008: 6.34,2007: 6.43,2006: 6.22.2005: 6.77.

Eisen must be training in the offseason, because that is impressive. Despite battling Father Time, he is shaving time off his previous marks. Any scout would love to see that. Add the suit into the mix, and Eisen can have any broadcasting gig he wants for a company looking for the best available athlete with a high motor.
I hope other networks are watching, because if anybody is looking for a terrific broadcaster that just so happens to run a six-second 40 with a suit, they know who to call.
