Lee Westwood Goes Up a Woman's Shirt, Vick Ballard Goes Down: BR5 2/28
Welcome to BR5—your source for sports and pop culture news.
Today's episode of BR5 gets you up to date on everything from players paying to trade numbers to TO's return.
Terrell Owens lights it up for three TD's and completely dominates...the Indoor Football League. How does this translate to his NFL prospects? It doesn't. The old saying about the IFL is, if you can make it there...that's nice. TO's Allen Wranglers went on to win by 20 points, and Owens says they should have scored more and been penalized less. TO still claims he's not retired, just waiting for the NFL to give him a call. He's probably hoping for that call soon.
Golfer hits his ball into a woman's shirt. No this wasn't the plot to some Tiger inspired adult film. It was Lee Westwood shanking his shot into the crowd and into an unsuspecting lady's sweatshirt. And no the lady wasn't Kate Upton. But the shot is newsworthy nonetheless. And even though Westwood is pretty damn good with the clubs.
Why would AJ Burnett pay for Daniel McCutchen's daughter to go to college? He wanted McCutchen's jersey number. Buying jersey numbers when players switch teams is nothing new, but this appears to be the first transaction in which the price paid is funding a teammate's unborn daughter's education. Burnett, the former Yankee disaster now in Pittsburgh, apparently wants to wear his "lucky No. 34." Why on earth he would want to stick with that same number is still a mystery. Still, Burnett could have much better luck with the Pirates than he did with the Yankees, and a good gesture like this one is probably a decent way to start.
There's nothing like falling flat on your face in front of people you're trying to impress. For many aspiring professional football players...The NFL combine is the most important day of their lives. So when running back Vick Ballard stumbled and took a header into a piece of equipment...it's easy to say he did not put his best foot forward. All the guy had to do was run in a straight line for 40 yards without tackling himself. Even if he does go on to a long and impressive career in the NFL it'll tough to top this highlight.
San Diego Fox Sports anchor Ross Shimabuku apparently doesn't like Danica Patrick. He just wishes that he hadn't let everybody in San Diego know on live TV. After running a sound bite from Danica in which she questions why only women athletes are often described as sexy, Ross decides to inject his own editorial.
