Ray Small: Former Ohio State WR Busted with Drugs and Loaded Weapon
Former Ohio State wide receiver Ray Small is in the news again.
Several months after making headlines for his comments about the Ohio State memorabilia scandal, Small has popped up for ending up in handcuffs over the weekend.
Brandon Castel of The-Ozone.net had the scoop on Twitter:
Not good. Not good at all.
This is about as low as it gets for Small, who was a bit player at Ohio State. He caught a grand total of 61 passes from 2006 to 2009. He did, however, enjoy some nice success on special teams.
Small was last heard from in May of 2011 when he admitted to The Lantern that he too profited off of team memorabilia while playing at Ohio State. He said that himself and several of his comrades just didn't "even think about (NCAA) rules."
Said Small, "I had sold my things but it was just for the money. At that time in college, you're kind of struggling."
The best deals, said Small, came from car dealerships.
"It was definitely the deals on the cars. I don't see why it's a big deal," he said.
Small also indicated that when you play for Ohio State, you really don't have any trouble finding deals to make on the side.
"Everywhere you go, while you're in the process of playing at Ohio State," Small said. "You're going to get a deal every which way."
Small's NFL career has not materialized. He started with the Minnesota Vikings, signed on with the Indianapolis Colts, and was last seen signing on with the Washington Redskins.
Small's profile on NFL.com does a pretty good job of telling the story of his pro career. Small has yet to compile a single stat.
After this latest incident, it's unlikely that he ever will.
