NFL Combine 2012: 4 Prospects Who Are Too Big for Their Own Good

Tony SantorsaJun 5, 2018

If you want to be a successful offensive lineman in the NFL, you're going to have to be pretty big and pretty strong.

However, there are some players who are just too big and could stand to drop a few pounds, as it restricts their abilities a bit.

With that being said, here are four prospects who are too big for their own good.

Kelechi Osemele

1 of 4

Iowa State's Kelechi Osemele is absolutely huge—I mean, he is a giant.

Osemele stands at 6'6" and weighs a whopping 333 lbs, but he could certainly stand to drop a few.

For the 40-yard dash, Osemele clocked in at a pitiful 5.36 while struggling in the 20-yard shuttle, as he ran a 4.87.

If Osemele dropped a few lbs then he would certainly be a bit more mobile.

Zerbie Sanders

2 of 4

Zebrie Sanders came into the 2012 NFL Scouting Combine standing at 6'6" and weighing an incredible 320 lbs.

You may argue that Sanders is in pretty good shape, but his 5.41 40-yard dash time is pretty pathetic and could have certainly been better if Sanders dropped a few lbs.

Cordy Glenn

3 of 4

Cordy Glenn may be a massive 6'5" and 345 lbs, but he certainly could lose some weight.

Amazingly, Glenn ran an impressive 5.15 in the 40-yard dash, but just imagine how much faster and quicker he would be if he dropped a few lbs—it would be freakish.

Jeff Allen

Jeff Allen isn't the greatest prospect available in the 2012 NFL draft, but he could be a later-round pick, as he had a stellar four-year career with Illinois as an offensive tackle.

My biggest concern with Allen is that he's a very slow mover, and his 307 lbs certainly has to do with that.

If he dropped a few lbs or turned the fat into muscle, he'd be a little bit quicker.
