NFL Combine 2012 Results: 5 Strongest Prospects After Two Days
Now that Day 4 of the 2012 NFL Scouting Combine has come to an end in Indianapolis, we can now take a look at Saturday's workouts and begin to recap what exactly happened and what it all means.
One trait that a player must need to succeed at the NFL level is strength. It's pretty simple—you have to be strong in order to succeed in the NFL.
With that being said, let's take a look at the five strongest prospects in the 2012 draft class.
David Molk
1 of 5The 2011 Rimington Trophy winner, Michigan's David Molk really impressed the football world with his incredible bench press workout this Saturday.
Molk posted the highest amount of reps in the bench press thus far with 41.
Molk may not be a top prospect, but he's pretty powerful and could utilize that skill at the NFL level.
Orson Charles
2 of 5The 6'2" and 251-pound tight end out of Georgia really caught a lot of attention Saturday as he appears to be the strongest player for his position.
Orson Charles recorded 35 reps in the bench press, which was the highest recorded for the tight end position and was second overall.
Charles is one of the top tight ends available and could very well end up being the first tight end selected this April.
David DeCastro
3 of 5Stanford's David DeCastro really solidified himself as the top offensive guard prospect for not only this year's draft but also in recent memory.
DeCastro recorded the third-most reps in the bench press and the most for his position as he posted 34 reps.
DeCastro, who stands 6'5" and weighs 316 pounds, should have one successful NFL career if his talent and strengths translate onto the playing field.
Justin Anderson
4 of 5Justin Anderson of Georgia really proved to NFL scouts that he's one of the strongest offensive tackles available in the 2012 NFL draft.
Anderson recorded 32 reps in the bench press, which was the most for his position and the fourth most overall.
Anderson may not be a top draft pick but he could be a quality pick in the middle rounds this April.
Tony Bergstrom
5 of 5Tony Bergstrom is far from being a top prospect for the offensive tackle position but he is pretty strong as he recorded 32 reps for the bench press.
The Utah product still has a long way to go as he still needs to develop if he wants to be a starter at the NFL level but he can be a quality backup this upcoming season.
