Chicago Bears Dancing Around Elephant In The Room
In the world of professional sports, the idea of being guilty by association has its limitation.
Right now, the Chicago Bears are flaunting how little they understand management.
The secondary underperformed in 2008. So Steve Wilks, the secondary coach, did not have his credentials renewed at Halas Hall.

Projecting Every NFL Team's Starting Lineup 🔮

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
The defensive line under-whelmed in 2008. So Brick Haley, the d-line coach, wasn't invited back.
The linebackers disappointed in 2008. So Lloyd Lee, the linebackers coach, got fired.
The defense, as a whole, was mediocre. Bob Babich, the defensive coordinator, is... still employed?
All of his subordinates are unemployed because their units didn't perform, but Babich, their boss, is still working happily.
Bears' general manager Jerry Angelo has shown an inability to realize the obvious before. Example: Rex Grossman was given a contract for 2008. But this might be his best effort yet. Does he really not get it?
Rumors have swirled that the Bears have interest in Rod Marinelli, the former crypt keeper/head coach in Detroit. He has allegedly been offered the d-line coaching job. His son-in-law, Joe Barry, who served as his defensive coordinator in Detroit, would apparently come with as the linebackers coach.
And this is supposed to fix the problem?
During their winless 2008, the Lions gave up an NFL-worst 32.3 points per game. They allowed over 400 yards of total offense per game, also worst in the entire league.
So, to fix an underachieving group of overpaid star wanna-bees, the Bears are going to keep the man who designed the failure and compliment him with the architects of the biggest loser team in the history of the National Football League?
I have always thought Angelo was an idiot, but his approach to the 2009 offseason, coupled with the failure of the 2008 campaign, make me wonder if he's fit to run a Pop Warner league in Chicago's suburbs.
