Kendall Wright Combine: Baylor Bears WR Will Climb Up Boards with Great Outing

Jeff ChaseJun 7, 2018

Wide receiver is looking to be a pretty competitive position at this year's NFL draft, so it is imperative that Baylor Bears wide receiver Kendall Wright impresses the scouts at this year's NFL combine.

Wright had an outstanding year with the Bears, as he was the other half to quarterback Robert Griffin III's Heisman Trophy winning performance.

For 2011, he had 108 receptions for 1,663 yards and 14 touchdowns. While that wasn't the most for a receiving in any category, he was near the top for each one.

The one downfall to Wright's potential is that he comes into this draft at just 5'10", which is pretty small for a top-pick receiver in the NFL draft.

Considering guys like Justin Blackmon, Michael Floyd and Alshon Jeffery all stand much above 6'0" tall, Wright is going to have to really electrify those watching at the combine.

He definitely has the speed to make some noise in the 40-yard dash, and he could prove much if he can make up for his height with a nice vertical leap.

Considering that he has a lot of upsides to him, Wright could potentially sneak into the front spot of this receiver group if he has a solid combine.

That is a long shot, as Blackmon is the heavy favorite, but you really never know.

According to Dan Parr of Pro Football Weekly, Blackmon isn't participating in any events due a hamstring injury, so that could ultimately hurt him while helping Wright propel into the right direction.

Who knows if that will change the minds of scouts, but it certainly only helps Wright if he has stellar results when the lights are on him.
