WWE: 10 DVD/Blu-Ray Sets That Should've Been Made by Now

Drake OzJun 7, 2018

The WWE may often have trouble coming up with good storylines or pushing the right superstars, but one thing it doesn't struggle with is creating incredibly entertaining DVDs.

The company has released a number of DVD/Blu-Ray sets over the years that are simply phenomenal, with great storytelling, interviews, matches and more.

A bunch of the DVDs that we wrestling fans want to see have already been produced, but there are just as many that the WWE has yet to create.

That needs to change. Soon.

Here are 10 DVD/Blu-Ray sets that the WWE should have made by now, but that I'll settle with seeing in the future.

10. The Best of WWF in Your House

1 of 10

When WCW began holding monthly pay-per-views in the 1990s, the WWE needed to find a way to do the same.

Vince McMahon's company had already held five major PPVs per year (today's "Big Four," plus King of the Ring), but it had to create a concept that would enable the WWE to challenge WCW for monthly PPV viewers.

That concept was the In Your House pay-per-view series, PPV shows which ran during months when the WWE did not hold a major pay-per-view.

These events ran from May 1995 to April 1999 and featured a ton of memorable matches and moments, such as the first-ever Hell in a Cell match at Badd Blood: In Your House on Oct. 5, 1997, which pitted Shawn Michaels against The Undertaker and featured the debut of Kane.

I'd love to see the WWE create a Best of WWF In Your House DVD set that focused on the biggest moments and best moments of this four-year period, a time when wrestling was as popular as it's ever been.

9. 2002: The Rise of the Superstar

2 of 10

One could argue that 2002 was the most important year in the history of the WWE.

I realize I may get a lot of heat for saying this because 2002 came after the Attitude Era, but the superstars that debuted that year either carried the company for years or are still carrying the company today.

In 2002, we saw Brock Lesnar, Batista, John Cena and Randy Orton all make their WWE debuts in the most ridiculous influx of talent wrestling has ever seen.

Here we are 10 years later, and we know that both Batista and Lesnar had a tremendous impact on the wrestling business and that Cena and Orton are now arguably the two top stars in all of pro wrestling.

The WWE could easily produce a DVD highlighting what 2002 meant, how the rise of those four guys changed the business and whether or not that was the most important year in recent WWE history.

Although this isn't a DVD title that may jump out at most, I'd love to see a three-disc set that chronicles the rise of four of the biggest stars of the post-Attitude Era WWE.

8. Ravishing: The Rick Rude Story

3 of 10

Rick Rude is one of the greatest professional wrestlers ever to set foot in a WWE ring.

The "Sexiest Man Alive" was a staple of both WCW and the WWF from the late 1980s until 1998, establishing himself as one of the best wrestlers, heels and talkers in pro wrestling history.

Yet there seems to be some sort of Rick Rude stigma in the WWE that has prevented the company from chronicling his career in a DVD set and from inducting him into the Hall of Fame.

What a shame.

Rude was one of the great antagonists of his generation and someone that today's superstars could really learn from.

If you watch some of Rude's matches and promos on YouTube, you'll see just how awesome he was in just about every aspect of the business.

7. The 50 Most Unforgettable Finishers in WWE History

4 of 10

It's hard to believe that a DVD set immortalizing the top 50 finishers in WWE history has yet to be made.

Finishers are such a big part of the wrestling business, and without some of these memorable maneuvers, many stars may have never reached the top of the business.

Would Randy Orton be the same Orton without the RKO? Absolutely not.

Would "Stone Cold" Steve Austin have been as big as he was without the Stunner? Hell no.

From Ric Flair's Figure Four leg lock to CM Punk's GTS, a superstar's finishing maneuver can help mold his career, earn him new fans and get him a push that he may not have gotten otherwise.

And after some searching, I've got some good news: A Top 50 Finishers DVD is indeed coming soon.

6. The History of the Cruiserweight Championship

5 of 10

One of the best DVDs that the WWE has ever produced is The History of the Intercontinental Championship.

It is a must-watch for any WWE fan, but especially for those who've grown up watching today's WWE, which places little to no emphasis on what should be one of the company's most prestigious titles.

If we're going to get another DVD like this anytime soon, I'd love for it to be The History of the Cruiserweight Championship, so we can relive the better days when Hornswoggle wasn't holding the Cruiserweight belt.

From 1991 until 2007, the Cruiserweight division provided wrestling fans with some amazing matches, and it is where future major stars like Rey Mysterio, Chris Jericho and Eddie Guerrero first made a name for themselves.

A DVD highlighting the history of the Cruiserweight Championship would allow us to relive those great matches, as well as some fantastic feuds from both the WWE and WCW.

5. Good Guys Gone Bad: The Top 25 Heel Turns in WWE History

6 of 10

Heel is a word that—unless you're watching Dolph Ziggler—you'll probably never see used on WWE TV.

But heel turns are such a big part of the business that a DVD set highlighting the best ones in wrestling history would be really fun to watch.

There are a number of heel turns that were extremely well done and/or revolutionized pro wrestling (like Hulk Hogan's in 1996), and these often made big stars even bigger or led to the creation of new ones.

The wrestling industry would have been changed forever had Hogan not joined the Outsiders, and even turns like Chris Jericho's in 2008 had a lasting impact on the business.

We need to see a DVD set that analyzes these heel turns, who they affected, how they did so and what the ultimate result was of a good guy going bad.

4. Talk the Talk: The 50 Best Promos in WWE History

7 of 10

Promos are as big a part of pro wrestling as headlocks or suplexes, and they can often define a superstar's career.

"Stone Cold" Steve Austin became the biggest superstar of the Attitude Era thanks in large part to his infamous "Austin 3:16" promo, CM Punk had a breakout year in 2011 because of his epic worked shoot and so on and so forth.

While we watch wrestling primarily to see just that, wrestling, Raw and Smackdown would simply not be the same if there were never any promos.

As evidenced by John Cena's excellent work on this week's Raw, a great promo can make a good feud great and a great feud amazing.

There has always been a debate over what the best promo in WWE history actually is, though, and a DVD set highlighting the top 50 would settle that dispute (hopefully).

3. WWE's Greatest Rivalries: The Rock vs. "Stone Cold" Steve Austin

8 of 10

The Rock and "Stone Cold" Steve Austin were the two biggest stars of the Attitude Era. Hands down.

Without them, that period of wrestling history wouldn't have even been close to the same, and that's why I rank them as 1a and 1b of that era.

What made The Rock and Austin so great was that they could thrive when they were apart, but they created pure magic when together.

These guys crossed paths so many times throughout their careers, feuding with each other, helping each other out and meeting one on one at multiple WrestleManias.

"Stone Cold" and The Rock had what is undoubtedly one of the biggest rivalries wrestling has ever seen, one that defined an era and helped two huge stars become even bigger.

After the success of WWE's Greatest Rivalries: Bret Hart vs. Shawn Michaels, it only makes sense that we see one with The Rock vs. "Stone Cold" in the future.

2. The Best of the Attitude Era

9 of 10

The Attitude Era is considered by the majority of wrestling fans to be the best period in pro wrestling history.

From 1997 to 2001, the WWE was more popular than it's ever been, a result of a number of different factors, such as the feud between Steve Austin and Mr. McMahon, a loaded WWE roster and risqué TV that was much edgier than what we currently get out of the WWE.

YouTube allows us to relive some of those unforgettable Attitude Era moments for free, but the WWE's video productions staff is so phenomenal at what they do that I'd love to see them produce a Best of the Attitude Era DVD set.

There are literally countless moments from this period in wrestling history that could make their way onto a DVD, and there's no doubt that it would be a hot seller.

As someone who grew up during the Attitude Era and stayed up past my bed time to see "Stone Cold" hit Mr. McMahon with the Stunner, this is one DVD I would undoubtedly buy.

1. WWE's Greatest Rivalries: "Stone Cold" Steve Austin vs. Mr. McMahon

10 of 10

The greatest feud in wrestling history isn't one that took place between two wrestlers.

It's the authority figure vs. the ultimate rebel. It's, of course, Steve Austin vs. Vince McMahon.

The long-running rivalry between the top star of the Attitude Era and the egotistical heel boss defined the late 1990s and early 2000s, helping create the biggest boom in pro wrestling history.

Wrestling fans tuned into Raw each and every week to see what would happen next between Austin and McMahon, two bitter rivals who at times worked together but spent most of their time at each other's throats.

The incredible feuds between "Stone Cold" and Mr. McMahon were the driving force behind the Attitude Era, and they have to be chronicled in a three-disc DVD set.

WWE's Greatest Rivalries: Austin vs. McMahon? Give me a hell yeah.
