Tony Dungy Somehow Avoids the Criticism That Brett Favre Receives
The offseason drama of Brett Favre is well documented.
His troubles this offseason with the Green Bay Packers led to him being traded out of Wisconsin to the troubled New York Jets franchise.
While in New York this season, Favre has helped lead the team to a five-game turnaround from a 4-12 2007 season to a 9-7 2008 season.

But now with the offseason upon us, "Favre Watch" has officially begun.
Since the end of the Jets' season, and even before that, Favre has been criticized over and over for his indecisive ways regarding his future in the NFL.
For the past few years, Favre has been late to make a decision and has left fans and the media alike wondering what he would do. He has shown signs he would retire, but came back and, as in 2007, played phenomenal football.
But for all the criticism that Favre has received, there is someone with just as much clout as Favre who has been just as indecisive on his future.
Tony Dungy.
For years now, Dungy has flip-flopped on his future with the Indianapolis Colts but has not even been so much as questioned for leaving his team on the edge of their seats waiting.
If criticism should go anywhere, it should go to the indecisive head coach, not the quarterback. The problem is that the country has become so enamored with the quarterback position that all focus is thrown on that position.
But which is more important? A head coach or a quarterback?
I'm inclined to say that the quarterback position goes nowhere without a coach to guide them along.
Dungy is much more important to the Colts than Peyton Manning. The Colts have missed the playoffs with Manning but never with Dungy. That's a telling story.
The bottom line is neither of these men deserve to be second-guessed on any decision they make. So, don't misconstrue what I'm saying because I do not believe either of them should come under fire for being human.
They have proven themselves to be Hall-of-Fame talents at their given posts and should be given the benefit of the doubt rather than lambasted.
They are people. They are indecisive. And in Favre's case, he gets harassed and criticized because he's honest when he says he's not sure what he'd like to do.
All I'm saying is this: If Favre should be criticized, then so should Dungy.
If criticism should come in the direction of Favre, then why not Dungy?
