Andre Villas-Boas and 6 Premier League Managers Fighting for Their Jobs

Karla Villegas GamaJun 7, 2018

The Premier League season is close to the end and not every manager has had the expected results. The competition is fierce out there, but it's not just the players who need to prove what they are made of.

It's true that not all coaches have the same experience and that some have to struggle and try to take their teams out of the relegation zone.

Be that as it may, the truth is fans and club owners want one thing only: the title. When this not only seems far from happening, but the team has taken a turn for the worst, managers are likely to kiss their jobs goodbye.

Andre Villas-Boas

Former Chelsea's boss Claudio Ranieri has pointed out that Andre Villas-Boas is this season's dead man walking due to his recent results.

Villas-Boas hasn't won a match since January 14, when the Blues defeated Sunderland at Stamford Bridge 1-0. Chelsea sits fifth in the Premier League table.

After that, his boys record three draws and one loss. Furthermore, the only title he has won is the Barclays Asia Trophy.

Owen Coyle

Owen Coyle, Bolton Wanders's boss, has been in charge of the team since January 2010.

After two years, Coyle has never managed to put the team in better position than 14 at the Premier League. This season the Trotters are in danger of being relegated as they sit 19th in the table.

Steve Kean

Steve Kean has served as Blackburn Rovers' manager since 2010, but his job is on the line as the club is struggling to stay on the Premier League.

Against all odds, the club extended Kean's contract last November just days after the fans expressed they were unhappy with the boss' job.

After the episode, Kean posted five wins, seven defeats and two draws.

Roberto Martínez

Spaniard Roberto Martínez is hoping for some miracle to happen. Wigan Athletic is the worst Premier League squad, with 19 points, as a result of four wins, six draws and 14 defeats.

Martínez left Swansea for Wigan in 2009, but has never put the team in better position than 16th.

Alex McLeish

Aston Villa is struggling to stay on England's first division, the club is in its 24th straight season. Nevertheless, Alex McLeish hasn't had a walk on the park and has been criticized by the fans.

The Villa is currently in the 15th place of the table, the worst season the club has had since the 2005-06 season, when they finished 16th and were managed by David O'Leary.

Roy Hodgson

Roy Hodgson, West Bromwich's manager, is for sure one of the most experienced coaches in the Premier League, but hasn't been able to put the team in the top half of the table.

The Baggies sit 14th this season and have only won eight matches out of 25, plus 12 defeats and five draws. Hodgson hasn't been able to achieve a campaign as successful as last year's, when the club finished 11th.
