Kevin Durant Video: Watch Oklahoma City Thunder Star Light Up Denver Nuggets
Kevin Durant continues to prove that he's one of the best players in the NBA.
On Sunday against the Denver Nuggets, Durant exploded for 51 points on an astounding 19-of-28 from the floor, making 5-of-6 three-pointers along the way.
Durant also added eight rebounds, three assists and four steals as he led the Oklahoma City Thunder to a come-from-behind 124-118 triumph.
The Thunder are widely regarded as the best team in the Western Conference. Some believe they will win the championship this season. And a big part of that has to do with Durant, who only seems to have gotten better since last season, when he averaged 27.7 points on 46 percent shooting.
Durant is averaging 27.6 points on 51 percent shooting this season while shooting 36 percent from downtown. He's also averaging 8.2 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 1.3 steals and 1.3 blocks.
It's not just that Durant continues to improve offensively, hitting a wide array of shots on Sunday. It's that he's becoming a more complete basketball player along the way, which should truly be terrifying other NBA teams, including the Miami Heat and Chicago Bulls in the Eastern Conference.
Durant has the ability to lift the Thunder to a title this season. Obviously, he can't do it alone, but if the Thunder play as a team throughout the playoffs, who's to say they can't win a championship?
What Durant showed us on Sunday may be just a glimpse of what he has to offer moving forward. He continues to boost his play on the court while being a team player.
If Durant keeps this up, he'll be called one of the greatest players who ever played the game when he's all through.
He's already a two-time NBA scoring champion and three-time All-Star in his fifth year in the league.
