Why Dereck Chisora Must Be Banned from Boxing for Life
Twenty-eight-year-old Dereck Chisora not only lost to Vitali Klitschko on Saturday night, but he was also detained for questioning by the police for nearly seven hours.
The Zimbabwean-born Brit lost a unanimous decision to Klitschko in Munich, Germany and then got in a fight with former WBA champion David Haye. The scrap was an ugly ending to an ugly fight week for Chisora.
He slapped Klitschko in the face at the pre-fit weigh-in and spat in the face of the Ukrainian's younger brother and WBA (Super), IBF, WBO, IBO & Ring Magazine Heavyweight Champion, Wladimir.
According to CBS Sports, Chisora is likely to face sanctions from the British Boxing Board of Control:
"The body is looking into his behavior "prior, during and after his contest" against Klitschko, BBBC General Secretary Robert Smith said in a statement. "A further statement will be issued once the stewards have decided on what action will be taken."
"
This isn't Chisora's first run-in with the law. The BBBC isn't going to take kindly to his antics, nor should they.
Chisora's disrespectful behavior to not just one, but three fighters is ridiculous.
Boxing doesn't need fighters like Chisora bringing it down.
He's 15-3 in his career—three losses in his last four fights—and hardly a fighter that the sport will miss.
Fighters won't want to deal with him, and arenas won't want to have him.
Chisora's talent isn't enough to make up for his disrespect, and the sport of boxing doesn't need Dereck Chisora.
