Kevin Durant's Career-High 51 Points Leads Thunder Past Denver Nuggets

The Oklahoma City Thunder just put on one of the most impressive performances of the 2011-12 NBA season.

Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook both scored over 40 points on the night, and if that wasn't impressive enough, they both managed to shoot over 50 percent in an 124-118 overtime win.

Oh wait, I forgot to mention that Serge Ibaka managed to grab the first triple-double in franchise history, including the years when the Thunder were the SuperSonics, that includes blocked shots.

Here, I'll just give you the stat lines of these superstar performances:

Kevin Durant - 51 points, 8 rebounds, 4 assists, 67.8 FG PCT, 83.3 3-PT PCT

Russell Westbrook - 40 points, 9 assists, 4 rebounds, 55.2 FG PCT, 50 3-PT PCT

Serge Ibaka - 14 points, 15 rebounds, 11 blocks, 85.7 FG PCT

Seeing those kind of numbers sounds like I was watching two friends play NBA 2K12 instead of watching an actual NBA game.

The Oklahoma City Thunder put on an absolute offensive clinic Sunday night against a solid Denver Nuggets team that just didn't want to go away.

With the Thunder down five points with under a minute to go, Durant decided it was time for beast mode, scoring the final five points of regulation and sending the game into overtime with an emphatic dunk with under 5.5 second left on the clock.

In overtime, it was time for all three Thunder superstars to shine, in their own unique ways. 

Durant and Westbrook scored all of the Thunder's 13 points in overtime, and with the Thunder up four points with 22.3 seconds left, the Nuggets' Aaron Afflalo drove into the paint for a seemingly easy dunk, but Ibaka decided it was time to record his 11th block of the game.

When you've got two players scoring over 40 points a piece and another guy grabbing a triple-double with 11 blocks, you'd better come out with the win, and the Oklahoma City Thunder did just that.

Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook could have beaten half of the teams in the NBA by themselves today, accounting for 91 total points.

The Thunder made NBA history by being the first team in NBA history to have two guys go for 40-plus points, with another player grabbing a triple-double that included blocks.

I think it's safe to say that that is an NBA record that probably won't be broken in the near future, unless the Thunder's trio of Durant, Westbrook and Ibaka decide to go off for another historical night. There aren't many teams in the NBA that have that kind of talent on their team.

Move over Miami and Chicago.  There's a new best team in the NBA, and its name is the Oklahoma City Thunder.
