Jeremy Lin ESPN Headline: Employee Responsible for Controversial Headline Fired

Three offensive comments made regarding Jeremy Lin that were made on ESPN media outlets has resulted in one employee being fired and another being suspended. 

According to this statement, posted by Director of communications for ESPN digital media Kevin Ota, an offensive statement appeared on ESPN's mobile site Friday at 2:30 a.m. ET.

It was removed at 3:05 a.m. ET.

Also, the same offensive comment was uttered on ESPNNews.

It also came to the attention that a similar reference was made on ESPN Radio New York.  

On Sunday, ESPN announced the disciplinary actions that would be taken. 

Director of communications for ESPN digital media Kevin Ota posted the following statement on frontrow.espn.go.com:

"

The ESPN employee responsible for our Mobile headline has been dismissed.

The ESPNEWS anchor has been suspended for 30 days.

The radio commentator is not an ESPN employee.

"

Ota also offered up the following apology with this statement. 

"

We again apologize, especially to Mr. Lin. His accomplishments are a source of great pride to the Asian-American community, including the Asian-American employees at ESPN. Through self-examination, improved editorial practices and controls, and response to constructive criticism, we will be better in the future.

"
