WWE Elimination Chamber 2012: Predictions and Preview of the Event
Tonight is the night! Many weeks ago, I purchased my tickets to the final WWE pay-per-view event before WrestleMania. Just a few days ago, I won four more tickets!
Life can't get much better than this. Or can it?
WWE has only a few matches on the show Sunday, but two are known to be around an hour each. The others have some strong potential to deliver. Being live from Milwaukee, let's jump into the matches and see what is in store for the WWE Universe Sunday...
Surprise?
1 of 6WWE.com has an article teasing a "huge announcement" for Johnny Ace.
I don't know about you, but I am excited about this. Of course, I will be at the arena, so that is an added bonus.
As for what it could be?
It has to be something for WrestleMania. That seems to be the obvious guess.
Johnny seemed to hint at something with Triple H and Shawn Michaels, but I am realistic. No way do I expect either man to be in Milwaukee Sunday.
Expect a further storyline advancement with Undertaker vs. Triple H, with HBK in the middle. Outside of that, the only thing I can think of is Shaq unexpectedly showing up, like Floyd Mayweather did in 2008.
Honestly, those are the only two options.
Bonus Matches
2 of 6WWE has been adding "bonus matches" to pay-per-view events as of late.
That is not always a bad thing, but it can become redundant. In Sunday's show, there could easily be a match or two added late. With only four matches set, it is possible.
I'd love to see Brodus Clay bring his funk to Wisconsin!
Beth Phoenix vs. Tamina Snuka
3 of 6I have no doubt Beth Phoenix will be defending her title against Kharma at WrestleMania in April.
That has been my assumption since last year, when Kharma debuted in WWE. I see no reason to think otherwise now.
Tamina has a "new" name, but it won't be enough to defeat the reigning champion. Beth retains and focuses on her toughest challenger yet.
Kharma!
John Cena vs. Kane
4 of 6I must give Kane some credit.
His promo to close Raw on Monday actually made me second-guess my prediction. With a match so easy to pick, that is a very tough task. Kudos to Kane!
Sadly, I am not going all the way with my doubts.
John Cena wins this, just as he should have won at Royal Rumble. He is the priority now. Not Kane. The face overcomes the heel in the end, and Cena is by far the biggest face in the industry right now.
He has been for over five years and will be for another five (or more) years. This should be a fun brawl, but I can't see Kane winning.
Even with Eve's impending heel turn (just my opinion) and Zack's new attitude (finally), Cena will win. Just as he should.
World Title Match
5 of 6Honestly, I am completely lost on this match.
Make no mistake about it, this World Title match is not as "cut and dry" as some will have you believe.
Cody Rhodes and Wade Barrett are extreme long shots in the Elimination Chamber.
I can't imagine Big Show or Great Khali leaving with gold.
Daniel Bryan (reigning World Champion) would seem to be the favorite, but recent Smackdown shows have changed my mind. Too many big matches are being "given away" to think he is going to Mania as champion come April.
Then you throw in Santino Marella...the Milan Miracle!
Is Mark Henry healthy enough to take him out of the Chamber? Will Alberto Del Rio sneak attack a participant? What about Christian? Are any of these men going to shock the world and somehow find a way into the match?
Again, I have no idea, and I love it! That is how WWE should be. Right when you think you "know it all," they will throw you a curveball. Also, Sheamus has to be factored into all of this somewhere.
If Santino (or Khali) is taken out before the match, we will see a new World Champion among the men listed above. If not, Bryan retains the gold...
WWE Title Match
6 of 6Chris Jericho will leave the Bradley Center as the new WWE Champion.
Kofi Kingston has no chance. He will hit his "spots" and be eliminated.
The Miz and R-Truth have a small shot at the gold, but nothing is realistic to expect.
Same with Dolph Ziggler. He better find an opponent for Mania quick, because I can't see him in the WWE title match.
That leaves the current champion (CM Punk) and Chris Jericho. Most assume they will face off at WrestleMania with the title on the line, but nobody seems to know who will be walking into Miami wearing the gold.
I think Jericho uses his "final entry" position to his advantage and wins the title. That way, Punk can gain some of his edge back and chase the title into Mania, where these two should have a fantastic battle.
Don't forget, folks, I will be live at the show, so my perspective of the show is going to be much different than most watching at home. Enjoy the event!
