NBA Rumors: Milwaukee Should Ship out Stephen Jackson as Quickly as Possible

Richard LangfordJun 7, 2018

The Milwaukee Bucks need to take the best trade they can get for Stephen Jackson before this situation destroys the team.

Jackson is barely playing, he's not happy and tension is obviously growing between he and coach Scott Skiles.

Just check out these comments from Jackson. Alex Kennedy of HoopsWorld has the story.

When asked if he has a future in Milwaukee, Jackson shook his head.

Not at all. It’s obvious, you can see that. I’m just waiting until my situation is different. I’m coming to work every day and keeping myself prepared so that when my situation does get better, I’m ready to go.

"

We'll just take these comments one at a time because Jackson gives us a lot to work with. Essentially Jackson admits he has given up on his tenure with the team.

He is unhappy, and when he doesn't play he isn't likely to be buying into the team concept. As further evidence of this we have the next quote provided by Kennedy.

"

I’ve worked hard for many years to be that player that guys want to play with. To not be playing, and not have any reasons behind it, it’s kind of disrespectful. At the end of the day, I’m 33 years old. I’m not a 22-year-old guy that you’re coaching.

I’m a grown man who’s probably done more than a lot of people in this locker room in this league, including coaches. Like I said, I can’t put myself in the game and I can’t do anything except support my teammates and be ready for when I do play.

"

Jackson clearly has lost all respect for his coach. He feels completely slighted, and while he says he is ready to be a good teammate, that does not mean he is prepared to be a good presence for the team.

It is detrimental to a locker room to have a player that clearly has no respect for the coach. The most damning quote may be the next one, however.

"

I really don’t want them to get involved in it. I want them to continue to play and worry about winning games. I can handle my own situation. I’ve been a great professional, one of the top players in this league for a long time, and my play will speak for itself.

"

While Jackson says he doesn't want to be a part of it, this whole dissertation clearly proves he is going to be a part of it. Jackson is eager to voice his displeasure. And who can blame him?

He is a talented player, and clearly has the skill to be an upgrade on the floor.

There is clearly a personality conflict with the coach that is prohibiting this situation from functioning. This situation is a cancer, and it is only going to pull the whole organization until it is rectified, and the only way to do that is by trading Jackson.
