Klitschko vs. Chisora: Heavyweight Champ Vitali Klitschko Will Reign Supreme

Patrick ClarkeJun 5, 2018

WBC heavyweight champion Vitali Klitschko will continue to make boxing look bad on Saturday night when he proves that a 40-year-old fighter can dominate the sport's heavyweight division.

British challenger Dereck Chisora comes into the title fight 12 years younger than Klitschko, but having dropped two of his last three fights overall. Get ready to make that three of four.

On the other side, Klitschko has defended his heavyweight crown successfully seven times since claiming it from Samuel Peter in 2008. Klitschko has not lost since a sixth-round TKO defeat at the hands of Lennox Lewis back in 2003.

Saturday night's fight will be spark-filled no doubt, especially after the "smack heard 'round the world" at Friday's weigh-in.

Whether is was staged or took place in the heat of the moment, most likely it was the former, the increasing intensity surrounding the fight at least makes it worth watching.

Klitschko told ESPN,

"

Chisora can hit, and I do, too. So I don't see it going 12 rounds. I'm really looking forward to teaching this young gentleman a lesson, he is from Great Britain, but he's lacking appropriate manners.

"

Klitschko has plenty to prove to the doubters as he steps into the ring at age 40 against a cocky youngster. Age is but a number though, and Klitschko remains an elite heavyweight prospect with a ridiculous 43-2 career record.

Chisora has made himself out to be the villain already and that will give Klitschko even more reason to knock him out in Munich, Germany on Saturday night. The fan support will also lay in Klitschko's corner.

Both fighters are trending in opposite directions and one has already crossed the line, while at the same time setting himself up for embarrassment.

All factors point to another Klitschko clinic.

That being said, it's safe to say the legend of Klitschko will reign supreme over the floundering Chisora, as the Ukrainian once again stamps his name on boxing's heavyweight division.
