WWE Elimination Chamber 2011: Ranking the 6 Raw Participants

Justin WatryJun 7, 2018

This Sunday, WWE visits the great state of Wisconsin.

Their PPV event will be none other than Elimination Chamber, and fans all around the world are anticipating the main events.

Last year was no different for the WWE Universe. With The Miz defending his WWE Title against Jerry Lawler at this show, we needed a new No. 1 Contender for WrestleMania XXVII.

That is where Raw and these six wrestlers came in.

6. John Morrison

1 of 6

John Morrison began the match with King Sheamus.

As expected, fans were trying to "fantasy book" him to face The Miz at WrestleMania for the WWE Championship.

I, on the other hand, try to stay in the real world as much as possible.

In the end, he hit all of his "spots" before heading to the back, thanks to CM Punk.

5. R-Truth

2 of 6

R-Truth did nothing of note in this match. The only reason he gets some credit is for what I saw in him here.

He showed me something. He looked like he belonged. He came out with a passion and fire, as if he actually cared about being out there.

I took notice, as did the company.

Two months later, Truth was one of the hottest names in the business and in WWE Title main events with John Cena.

4. Randy Orton

3 of 6

Randy Orton had an excellent 2011 campaign. He is my reigning "WWE Superstar of the Year," and it is nights like this that showed why.

He continued his feud with CM Punk, as well as taking a nice pinfall loss. It added to the entire story being told, and he would (rightfully) get his wins back at WrestleMania and Extreme Rules.

Just as I expect in 2012, Orton will regain his main event status after spending plenty of time giving others some shine.

3. King Sheamus

4 of 6

Yes, he was King Sheamus at this point.

It was an interesting stretch for the Celtic Warrior, but WWE knows what they are doing.

As others were throwing around the term "buried" and "flash in the pan," I was being patient and understood how talented Sheamus was.

His losses to Daniel Bryan meant something.

His "silly" outfit meant something.

All of his upset losses meant something.

WWE knows what they are doing, folks.

He was going to get his due. His time would come. He took a beating on this night, as well as other nights to begin 2011. Sheamus may not have won, but he continued to show how great he really is.

One year later, he is the Royal Rumble winner going to main event WrestleMania as a top star.

2. CM Punk

5 of 6

Who can forget CM Punk and John Cena in a battle rap?

Oh yeah, it was only for the live crowd in Milwaukee last year!

I was there, and it was excellent.

This was also the night R-Truth called the arena "Green Bay."

Oops!

Either way, Cena and Punk had been feuding for a few weeks, but it was time to end. Cena was going to main event WrestleMania, while Punk was not.

Thus, the only logical outcome was Cena pinning Punk in the end. That is exactly how the Chamber match ended, but the leader of the New Nexus did make it interesting.

From being stuck in his glass pod to having been pinned "twice" to receiving a special message from the Raw General Manager, Punk made the most of this PPV event.

1. John Cena

6 of 6

Everybody please watch the video I posted, especially at the 3:40 mark. It is very telling...

WWE knew what the WrestleMania main event was going to be in 2011 for months in advance folks. Don't think otherwise.

Miz was going to become WWE Champion in late November 2010 and hold onto the gold through Mania. That was where John Cena would come into the title picture. Until then, he would take care of the Nexus and the New Nexus.

This Elimination Chamber was only going to be won by Cena. That was the only outcome of this match. It followed the KISS method I love so much, and it worked.

WrestleMania XXVII was the second most purchased PPV in WWE history!

Yes, history (behind 2007's event). Thanks to a few surprises, big matches, and a wonderful edition of Elimination Chamber.

Will this Sunday be just as entertaining? Find out in two days either on PPV or see it live from the Bradley Center.

I know I will.
