Ron Jaworski to Leave ESPN's Monday Night Football Booth to Work in Studio
Love or hate Jon Gruden, we're about to get a heavier dose of him every Monday night next football season.
According to multiple sources, including John Ourand of Sports Business Journal, Ron Jaworski is leaving the broadcast booth for the studio.
ESPN reports that Jaworski has signed a five-year extension to a new expanded multi-platform NFL analyst role that includes:
""appearances on Sunday NFL Countdown, Monday Night Countdown, NFL Matchup, NFL-branded specials, Mike & Mike in the Morning, Pardon the Interruption, and other platforms and shows throughout the year. He will also be featured in ESPN’s annual NFL Draft and Super Bowl week coverage, in addition to having his own NFL-themed SportsCenter Special shows highlighting his expert analysis and X’s and O’s film evaluations."
"
Jaworski, known more affectionately as "Jaws," has provided analysis for Monday Night Football for the past five years. He's been with ESPN since 1990 and is considered an expert in all things football, but especially in X's and O's.
The move is a rare one for Monday Night Football and is only the sixth time in history that they've sported a two-man booth in their 42 years, according to ESPN.
Jaws and Gruden made for an interesting dynamic in the booth—one that some people hated—and now we're going to see and hear them more than ever.
