2012 NFL Free Agent Predictions: DeSean Jackson and WRs Worth the Headache

Nicholas GossFeb 14, 2012

DeSean Jackson is one of the many top-tier wide receivers who will be free agents this NFL offseason that are worth the headaches and distractions they burden teams with because their talent is so immense.

Receivers are often divas and pout when they don't get the ball thrown their way as many times as they'd like, but having an elite playmaker at this position can make your offense so dangerous.

Let's look at three free agent wide receivers worth the headache.

Stevie Johnson, Buffalo Bills

There is a good chance the Buffalo Bills re-sign Stevie Johnson long-term or franchise tag him because the young star is their only wide receiver defenses fear.

He has shown some immaturity during his career, especially this past season when he celebrated a touchdown by pretending to shoot himself in the leg against the New York Jets because their veteran wide receiver Plaxico Burress shot himself in the leg a few years ago and served jail time.

Johnson, 25, can be a distraction, but for someone who is durable, reliable and young, there aren't many reasons not to sign him long-term.

He will be a 1,000-yard receiver for many more years.

Randy Moss took to Ustream on Tuesday to announce he plans to come back to the NFL and even though he did not play this past season, the future hall of fame receiver still has something to give to a contending team.

It's unlikely Moss would want to play for a team not contending for the Super Bowl, not just because he's 35 years old, but because he wants to win his first championship.

People have claimed that he doesn't have good speed anymore and that physically he might be out of shape since hasn't played pro football in a while, but I wouldn't be concerned by that.

Most experts and fans thought his knees were bad and he wasn't elite anymore when Moss was in Oakland, but after he was traded to the New England Patriots, he showed that his blazing speed and high level of talent was still there.

Moss can still be a very good player if he's focused and tries to perform, which he shouldn't have a problem doing on a contending team with a top quarterback. Moss can be a distraction, but as a player who can still stretch the field on offense, he's worth signing for one season.

DeSean Jackson, Philadelphia Eagles

DeSean Jackson could be hit with the franchise tag if him and the Philadelphia Eagles can not reach a long-term contract.

Jackson caused some distractions last season by expressing his displeasure that he wasn't given an extension before the 2011 season. He also committed some dumb penalties that were caused from showboating and lack of focus.

However, Jackson has immense talent and is one of the best deep threats in football thanks to his awesome speed. If the Eagles don't want to sign him, you can bet over 10 teams will line up to offer him some sort of deal.
