Michigan Football: 5 Sleepers in the 2012 Class
Everybody knows about the big-name players of the 2012 recruiting class, guys like Kyle Kalis and Ondre Pipkins, but there are plenty of less-heralded stars in this class as well.
Michigan brought in a handful of guys that weren't necessarily huge recruits, but have a good chance of being future stars.
Here is a list of five potential sleepers to someday watch out for.
Ben Braden (Offensive Lineman)
1 of 5With all the great linemen Michigan is bringing in in this class, Ben Braden gets lost in the shuffle.
You could make the case that Braden is Michigan's fourth best offensive lineman in this class, but that just goes to show you how deep (and good) this offensive line group really is.
Braden should likely be starting by the time his career is over. He is absolutely huge, standing 6'6" and weighing 285 pounds.
He seems to be a die-hard Michigan fan, as he committed way back in March of 2011. Hailing from Rockford, this kid seems to bleed blue.
Jehu Chesson (Wide Receiver)
2 of 5Some may not think it is fair to call Jehu Chesson a sleeper, seeing as how he is only one of two receivers Michigan is bringing in.
However, other than a handful of MAC schools, the only scholarship offers to speak of that Chesson got were from schools such as Illinois, Iowa, Missouri and Oklahoma State.
Even though he wasn't one of the nation's top receivers, Michigan is happy to have him for a specific reason: his height.
Chesson stands 6'3", extremely tall for a receiver. He seems to be a red zone threat and a possession guy, which is the absolute opposite of Amara Darboh, who is a speedster and playmaker.
Even though Michigan only brought in two receivers, it landed great diversity in the two.
Willie Henry (Defensive Tackle)
3 of 5Willie Henry couldn't have come into the recruiting picture any later than he did for Michigan.
He wasn't offered a scholarship until days before National Signing Day, and then committed almost immediately.
As we all know, defensive tackle is a position that has been lacking depth and talent, and it would be nice if Henry could turn into a future star.
Again, he wasn't highly recruited, with basically only MAC and Big East schools offering him.
However, a lot of people think he has a bright future ahead.
A.J. Williams (Tight End)
4 of 5Some may not think it is fair to call A.J. Williams a sleeper, seeing as how he is arguably the best tight end Michigan is bringing in in this class, and there is a good chance that he sees playing time as a freshman.
His offer list is somewhat impressive, with offers from schools such as Arkansas, Boston College, NC State and West Virginia.
Williams is absolutely huge, standing 6'6" and weighing 260 pounds.
He probably won't win the starting tight end job in 2012, but don't be surprised to see him make it on the field.
There is a good chance though that it will only take a year or two before he is indeed the starting tight end.
Chris Wormley (Defensive End)
5 of 5Why this kid didn't get more offers is beyond me. Seemingly everyone who recruited him thinks he will be absolutely great down the road.
All of his offers basically only came from schools in the Midwest.
Wormley stands 6'6" and weighs 270 pounds, and should be an absolute monster off the edge.
In fact, some have even speculated that Wormley may be moved to defensive tackle before his career is done.
Michigan seems to have plenty of depth at defensive end and not enough at tackle, but whether he is actually moved remains to be seen.
Along with Ben Braden, I think he and Wormley go on to have the best careers out of the five guys on this list.
