NBA's Top 10 Moments of the Week (2/05-2/12)
Confining an incredible week in the NBA to just 10 moments is like defending Jeremy Lin on the perimeter: nearly impossible. Nevertheless, it's a must-do, and thankfully, there is plenty of content to utilize.
We had buzzer beaters, three-point explosions, records being broken and even a little "Linsanity."
For those who missed out, have no fear. I have 10 videos prepared to show you exactly what you should've seen.
Honorable Mention: CP3 to Blake Griffin
1 of 11If Timofey Mozgov thought a clothesline would stop Blake Griffin from attacking the lane, he was terribly mistaken.
10. He's Back...
2 of 11So, I think it's safe to say Dwyane Wade's healthy.
He was up to his old tricks again, this time taking it to the Washington Wizards with one of his signature circus shots.
9. Kobe's Still Clutch
3 of 11At 33 years of age, Kobe is still as clutch as ever.
When the Lakers traveled to Toronto to play the team Kobe once lit up for 81 points, the expectations were high for a Kobe Bryant encore. While he only scored a third of his historic output, putting up 27 points on 9-of-23 shooting, he continued to torture Raptor fans who can't get him out of their hair.
With seven seconds remaining on the game clock, Kobe Bryant took an inbound pass from Metta World Peace and, well... It's just Kobe being Kobe.
8. Jason Richardson's Got Something Left in the Tank
4 of 11In a battle of two teams fighting for playoff spots in the Eastern Conference, the Orlando Magic traveled to Milwaukee to face Brandon Jennings and the Bucks. With Dwight Howard struggling from the field (just 5-of-15 for 11 points), someone else had to step up and will the Magic to victory.
I think Jason Richardson got the memo.
How does 9-of-11 from beyond the arc sound?
7. The Rivalry Is Alive and Well
5 of 11As fate would only have it, the Game of the Week came between the two most storied franchises in NBA history: the Boston Celtics and the Los Angeles Lakers.
The rivalry was alive and well as they went into overtime, saving the best for last as the Celtics attempted a buzzer beater to win it all...
6. Steve Nash Gives Himself a Birthday Present
6 of 11Steve Nash's 38th birthday was certainly one to remember.
With the game knotted at 105 apiece, Nash took on the Bucks D and gave himself the ultimate birthday gift.
5. Chris Paul Beats the Sixers in Philly
7 of 11In a game between two of the hottest teams in the NBA, defense was at a premium. With less than 20 seconds remaining, Philadelphia led 77-76. Then, of course, CP3 showed up.
Chris Paul got the ball just outside of the three-point line, and with 7.2 seconds remaining... You'll see.
4. Rajon Rondo's Triple-Double
8 of 11For the second time in this shortened season, Rajon Rondo has posted a triple-double. While reigning MVP Derrick Rose was missing from the Bulls lineup, the feat can't go without recognition considering the Bulls are one of the best defenses in the NBA.
According to Rondo, there's no such thing as an opposing defense.
How does a stat line of 32 points, 15 assists and 10 rebounds sound?
3. Paul Pierce Passes Larry Legend
9 of 11That's right, ladies and gentlemen. Paul Pierce is officially the second-greatest scorer in the storied history of the Boston Celtics. Watch and admire.
2. This Is Linsanity...
10 of 11I had to say it at least one time before it became too much of a trend. I might be late, but better late than never.
Jeremy Lin had one of the best performances of any player all season, continuing his hot streak by posting 38 points on the Los Angeles Lakers. At this point, there's not much to question whether this is actually happening.
Is this reality? Or is this just a dream? Linception!
1. Kobe Passes Shaq Fifth All-Time
11 of 11Sorry, Jeremy Lin fans, but his hot streak can't take this spot away from NBA history being made.
As you've probably heard, Kobe Bryant passed Shaquille O'Neal for fifth-all-time on the NBA scoring List.
Up next? Wilt Chamberlain.
