Premier League Summer Transfer Rumors: 10 Big-Name Players Who Will Switch Sides
Even though the January transfer window has not shut for more than a week, the rumor mill never ceases in football.
Big names are already being bandied about for summer transfers to some of England's biggest clubs, and many more have been rumored to be leaving their current teams.
Whether because of contract disputes, poor performance or just team needs, there will definitely be a healthy amount of turnover at all the top sides this summer.
With so much speculation flying around, it can be difficult to make sense of all the noise, but luckily, Bleacher Report is here to round up all the juiciest summer transfer rumors for you.
Wesley Sneijder to Manchester United
1 of 10This is one of those rumors that just will not go away.
Sneijder was thought to be on the verge of a move last summer, and with Manchester United sorely in need of midfield reinforcements during January, many again believed a transfer to be imminent.
Now, the pot has been stirred even more by the Dutchman's admission that he would have found it difficult to resist a move to Old Trafford if he had been approached last month.
At 27 years old, Sneijder is in the prime of his career, and the time has never been better for every Red Devils supporters' fantasy to be fulfilled.
Eden Hazard to Arsenal
2 of 10Another story that refuses to die, it is commonly accepted that Lille will have to part with their Belgian prodigy at the end of the season.
The player himself has stated that he believes he is moving to England, and moreover, that such a transfer would be his preference.
And, due to the facts that Hazard would fit perfectly into Arsenal's fluid style of play and Arsene Wenger is unparalleled in his skill at developing young talent, he has been linked to the Gunners continuously.
Wenger publicly expressing his admiration for the player can't hurt either.
Daniel Sturridge to Arsenal
3 of 10In intra-Premier League transfer news, Arsenal are reportedly eyeing Chelsea star Daniel Sturridge, as the young Englishman has apparently grown agitated with the wide position he has frequently been deployed in.
Sturridge would be fantastic support for Robin van Persie, or he could even replace him if the Dutchman decides to move to greener pastures.
However, it seems unlikely that Chelsea would sell one of their best young players and their joint top-scorer to such a fierce rival, especially when aging stars like Didier Drogba cannot play at a top level for much longer.
Theo Walcott to Chelsea
4 of 10Perhaps Arsenal and Chelsea could swap promising young players.
The Blues are apparently keen on Arsenal winger Theo Walcott, who is primed for a summer move with a contract that will expire at the end of next season.
I would have been sorely disappointed at this news a few months ago, but with Walcott's poor and often anonymous performances for the Gunners, a move that would send the far more effective Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain up the pecking order would be a good thing.
Walcott will never fulfill his promise, nor his dream, of becoming a central striker if he does not add more than pure pace to his game, and Chelsea will be sorely disappointed if they cannot develop him further at Stamford Bridge.
Milos Krasic to Chelsea
5 of 10Juventus winger Milos Krasic has been linked with Chelsea, and his agent has not done a whole lot to put the rumors to rest. He said, "Chelsea? They are interested in the player and they are one of the clubs he likes."
Krasic has not had the most success at Juve and might be available to Andre Villas-Boas for a relatively small sum.
He has the physique necessary to succeed in England, but as he is already 27 years old, Villas-Boas might want a longer-term option to continue Chelsea's youth movement.
Dieumerci Mbokani to Liverpool
6 of 10CaughtOffside are reporting that Liverpool could be in for highly-rated Anderlecht forward Dieumerci Mbokani.
His agent apparently rates the player at around €15 to 20 million, and Mbokani has really impressed at the club level this season, contributing seven goals and four assists in 15 appearances.
If Andy Carroll does not prove his worth soon, Liverpool may be forced to spring for another striker.
Andrei Arshavin Back to Russia (or Maybe Not)
7 of 10Understandably, Andrei Arshavin has been linked away from Arsenal many times, as his level of performance suggests that he should be playing in a retirement home's weekend league.
But his agent has claimed that no approach has been made and that there is no desire on the part of the club or the player to leave the Emirates Stadium.
Frankly, I do not believe that this is the case. Either the agent is lying, or Arsenal have just not been forthright with him. There would be no point in keeping a player who is contributing nothing and is already on the wrong side of 30 when there are so many promising players coming through the ranks at the club.
A transfer would be best for both parties, although I would not expect much to materialize while Arshavin in captaining his country at Euro 2012.
Gareth Bale to Barcelona
8 of 10Leave it to CaughtOffside to give us the most sensational story of the week.
Apparently, Barcelona are prepared to sell highly-rated youngsters, Isaac Cuenca, Cristian Tello and Jonathan dos Santos, to fund the £50 million purchase of Tottenham winger Gareth Bale.
Let's be clear about this: There is no way this deal will happen. Bale won't want to move away from England into a team where it will be hard for him to play, Spurs don't want to sell and Barca aren't going to sell three of their best youngsters to splash a mountain of cash on one player.
But is the Welshman worth all the hype? The short answer is yes. And these rumors will not subside any time soon.
Willian to Chelsea
9 of 10Shakhtar Donetsk midfield ace Willian has be unceasingly linked to Chelsea for months, but it appears that a deal is more imminent than ever before.
Santos president Luis Alvaro de Oliveira Ribeiro claims that his side have been outbid by the London giants for Willian's signature, admitting defeat by saying that "it seems that [Willian] will go there in the middle of the year" after Chelsea submitted an offer of "tens of millions of Euros."
Willian would certainly fit in with the youth movement that Andre Villas-Boas is attempting to institute at his club, and the Brazilian would add dynamism and creativity to Chelsea's attack.
Robin van Persie to Real Madrid or Barcelona
10 of 10Due to his excellent form for Arsenal and the fact that he will only have one year remaining on his contract at the end of the season, Robin van Persie has been one of the players most heavily linked with a move away from his current club.
And, incidentally, the two clubs who have been mentioned most often are Real Madrid and Barcelona.
Barca vice-president Josep Maria Bartomeu has said that "there is nothing going on at the moment" and that no inquires have been made. However, the lure of almost guaranteed success (a la Thierry Henry) and van Persie's friend, Cesc Fabregas, would prove influential.
Then there is Madrid, who can never be ruled out in the chase for any world-class player and would love to bring in a superstar striker like van Persie.
As an Arsenal fan, I hate reading about all this conjecture. Just sign a new contract until 2030 and put all this to rest, Robin. Pretty please?
