Austin Rivers: Callie Rivers Should Root for Duke over North Carolina
Normally, Callie Rivers would have quite the conundrum on her hands on an evening when ninth-ranked Duke takes on fifth-ranked North Carolina. After all, her decision could have some implications in her personal life.
"Dexter Strickland doesn’t want to discuss the relationship with reporters. Neither does Austin Rivers.
"
But it’s hard not to wonder how conflicted Callie Rivers, Austin’s sister and Dexter’s girlfriend, will be watching Wednesday’s game between rivals Duke and North Carolina.
Austin is a starting guard for the Blue Devils. Dexter was a UNC starter before he suffered a season-ending knee injury on Jan. 19.

Report: Biggest Spenders in Men's CBB 🤑
Hey, wait a second. If Dexter Strickland isn't playing in the game, there is no way Callie can root for North Carolina in this scenario. I mean, her allegiances aren't with the schools—Callie attended Florida, after all—they are only with her brother and boyfriend.
How awkward would it be if Callie rooted against her brother and her boyfriend wasn't even on the court? The next family gathering would be awwwwwk-ward.
Maybe Callie will just cut her losses and wear a Boston Celtics jersey to the game in support of her father. Or, as Strelow suggests, she could support both.
"No word on whether or not Callie plans to follow the lead of Laura Quinn, who famously wore a custom jersey that was half-Notre Dame (for her brother, Brady) and half-Ohio State (for A.J. Hawk, whom she married) at the 2006 Fiesta Bowl. She combined their numbers (Brady’s No. 10 and A.J.’s No. 47) to form a 17.
"
An 01 jersey in clashing shades of blue would be something to behold.
Combining those two jerseys would be sacrilege. It would be akin to a mongoose and a cobra sitting down for tea and biscuits together. Or some other feasible meeting between two hated rivals.
Just root for you brother, Callie, and support Strickland in his rehab from injury. It's the right move.
