What's At Stake?

It’s crazy, but the college basketball season is going to be over before we know it, and teams are gearing up for their conference tournaments and March Madness.

The SEC Tournament is going to be extremely competitive this season, especially amongst the highest seeds.

These two top ten teams are set to meet for the first of at least two matchups—possibly three (SEC tournament), or even four (NCAA tournament), when all is said is done.

Whoever wins tonight has an advantage in future matchups, as they’ve found a recipe to beat their opponent.

What They're Saying

Kevin Brockway of GatorSports.com is reporting that freshman phenom Bradley Beal isn’t sure about his future with the team.

"

Whether the 6-foot-3 Beal sticks around beyond this season remains to be seen. Asked about his future at UF beyond this season, Beal said: “I’m not really sure about that. I really haven’t thought about that at all. I’m just focusing on the season, one game at a time. I’m just focusing on the team right now.”

It wasn’t confirmation that Beal will bolt for the NBA draft, but it wasn’t an emphatic “I’ll be back for my sophomore season” either. Florida hasn’t had a one-and-done player since power forward Donnell Harvey left after his freshman season in 2000.

"

Mark Story of the Herald-Leader broke down Florida’s chances to upset top-ranked Kentucky.

"

Why they could threaten Kentucky: The guard-oriented Gators hit 10 three-pointers in beating Florida State, and 11 treys each in victories over Mississippi State and Vanderbilt. Teams that can shoot the three ball always have a puncher's chance.

Why they won't threaten Kentucky: Billy Donovan's lads are 2-4 in true road contests and have already lost on the home court of elite-level teams Ohio State and Syracuse — neither of which is as talented as Kentucky.

"

Most Important Player to Watch: Anthony Davis

Davis can do it all, including score, shot block and rebound at a high level.

This is why he has a great shot to go No. 1 overall in the NBA draft this summer.

Key Matchup: Florida three-point shooting vs. Kentucky perimeter D.

Florida’s only chance is bombing away from three, as Davis and the rest of the Kentucky bigs will not allow them to be a factor in the paint.

If the Gators can get hot from beyond the arc, it could be anyone’s game.

Kentucky 80, Florida 69
