College Football Recruiting 2013: Ranking the Top 10 Running Backs
Continuing on in our early position board rankings, we get to the rock toters. This year should be an interesting year for the RBs, as we have top prospects coast to coast and everywhere in between.
There may be some debate as to who's the top RB in the land right now. Plus, keep in mind we're still in the information gathering stage. Evaluations won't be complete until the spring.
Here we go.
10. Thomas Tyner
1 of 10Tyner is a strong and powerful runner at 6'0" and well over 200 pounds. He's got solid speed, great run strength, a powerful lower body and can shed some defenders with the ball.
He's committed to Oregon and could remind some of Jonathan Stewart.
9. Dontre Wilson
2 of 10Only reason I have Wilson this low is I think he could be an ATH or WR too. Still need more info on him, but he's 5'10", 180 pounds and has excellent speed.
I'm earmarking him for early consideration for the fastest players group.
8. Adam Lane
3 of 10Lane reminds me a bit of myself when I was toting the rock a few years back: short, stout, strong, smart and a tough runner. He's 5'7", 220 pounds and is not easily knocked off his run line.
Committed to Florida.
7. Ty Isaac
4 of 10Isaac is a 6'2", 220-pound RB with excellent size, a nice forward lean and great burst. I want to see more tape on him, but I'm very intrigued by him.
He rushed for over 2,100 yards and 45 TDs as a junior in Illinois.
Michigan State, Penn State and Wisconsin are the only majors not to have offered, everyone else has.
6. Altee Tenpenny
5 of 10Tenpenny is a 6'0", 205-pounder with a very strong lower body. He got hurt last year, so he didn't get to show off as a junior, but he's a big-time player. Alabama already has his pledge and he has been compared to Trent Richardson.
5. Kelvin Taylor
6 of 10Taylor is the son of former NFL great Fred Taylor, and is following in his father's footsteps. He's 5'10", 190 pounds and has a great symmetry to his style.
Taylor is great at running tough and banging inside with the big boys between the tackles. Then he also has the juice to skate to the edges and turn the corner, and the speed to get upfield.
4. Tarean Folston
7 of 10Folston is similar in style to Duke Johnson in the sense he shows great burst and explosion. He's from Florida and stands 5'9", 190 pounds.
Folston has great quickness and can get to the second level with ease. He's been offered already by Florida, Louisville, Vanderbilt, Cinci and BC.
3. Greg Bryant
8 of 10Bryant may be the top back out of Florida this year, and we all know that's a huge feat and title in itself. He's 5'10", 190 pounds and runs well behind his pads.
I've also noticed that Bryant has excellent awareness, sets up blocks well, is instictive and sees the field well. He's got good speed and comes downhill on every carry.
2. Derrick Henry
9 of 10Henry is a huge and beastly RB that stands 6'3" and weighs 235 pounds. He's got good speed, breaks tackles and runs hard with the football.
Henry is very athletic for his size and may be even better than Matt Jones was last year. He's committed to Georgia.
1. Jalin Marshall
10 of 10Marshall is currently committed to Ohio State and could play QB there, but for now I'll put him on the RB board just to get you introduced to him.
He's 6'1" and 190 pounds, has excellent play speed, quickness and vision as a runner, and is a home run threat. Urban Meyer will love him.
