UMass Riots: Students Going Berserk over Patriots 2012 Super Bowl Loss Is Sad
Several students at the University of Massachusetts should be ashamed of themselves for rioting in the streets after the New England Patriots lost to the New York Giants in Super Bowl XLVI.
Football is just a game and a loss or a win is no reason to terrorize the streets and be disruptive. It's one thing to be upset after your favorite team just lost, we've all been there. However, it's completely different to get angry and end up being arrested over something so stupid.
According to The Massachusetts Daily Collegian, this attitude and approach toward being a fan is nothing new.

"This is pretty typical UMass behavior. It happened last year and every other year with sporting events,” said Rob Orlando, a sophomore student in the Isenberg School of Management. “It’s not a surprise."

Nearly 1,500 students flooded the campus in a tight area, but after being told to leave they wouldn't budge. This led to arrests and awful behavior, which you can see in this video below.
Ignore the commentary from the girls and focus on the ridiculousness of the students. There's no point to them running around and being obnoxious.
Thankfully, no property was damaged, so apparently they weren't drinking that much or weren't that angry. It could have escalated, but thankfully the police showed up quickly to try and disperse the students.
Some police showed up on Clydesdales, which should have been a sign for these students to stop and just go back inside. You don't ever want to mess with a horse that big. Matter of fact, you don't ever want to mess with a horse period.
Rioting after a sporting event is a growing trend that needs to die quickly. It does more harm than good and often ends in a terrible way.
The UMass students displayed great immaturity in rioting after a Patriots Super Bowl loss and they should be sorry for their pathetic acts.
