Super Bowl Commercials 2012: Why Ads Are Best Part of Super Sunday

Jeff ChaseFeb 5, 2012

While the Super Bowl is great and all, one thing that is consistently great are the commercials. It just wouldn't be Super Bowl Sunday without them. For some, it is actually the best part of the game.

To some that may sound insane, but to others it is what makes this event all the more worthwhile.

Sure, they are just commercials when it is all said and done, but there is something about them that just makes the whole day that much better.

They Make Us Laugh

Isn't laughter supposedly the most important thing? It is something like that.

Super Bowl commercials, for the most part, are always funny. There is nothing better than getting a good laugh while having a nice enjoyable time with your friends and/or family.

We typically don't get too many times to laugh during the game, especially if things are tense. It provides a nice relief from the action.

They Can Be More Entertaining Than the Game

While this one could be a shootout, there is always the possibility that this game could be all about defense.

Now to your hardcore fan, that sounds like a great game, but honestly most people are entertained by scoring. It is just more fun.

When the game is all about defense rather than offense, it can sometimes become extremely boring (i.e. Alabama vs LSU this year—twice).

The commercials give us something that is consistently entertaining. Sure, you will get your dud here and there, but for the most part there is no denying the entertainment value that comes with these ads.

Most of Us Don't Care for Either Team

To be honest, the majority of us watching the game don't have a preference in who wins this game, since we are not all fans of these two teams.

Sure, the game will be entertaining, but not as great as watching your own team. What most of us do hold a common interest in though is the ads, and that is why they often trump the actual game.

This season has a lot storylines going into it, but your average football fan may become disinterested after 20-30 minutes of watching a team that is not their own.
