NFL Play of the Year 2012: Jerome Simpson's Amazing Touchdown Can't Be Beaten
Jerome Simpson of the Cincinnati Bengals scored one of the best touchdowns ever this season, which is the runaway choice for NFL play of the year in 2011.
Here is the video if you haven't seen it.
To be honest, this might be the coolest touchdown play in professional football history. What makes it great is that you never see someone jump over a defender like that at the goal line. Usually you see guys bang into each other to fight for the the last few yards before the end zone, but Simpson totally fooled the Arizona Cardinals with this amazing leap which, I might add, was finished off brilliantly with a perfect landing.

Rookie WRs Who Will Outplay Their Draft Value 📈
If Simpson is going to be able to leap like that in pressure moments and stick the landing perfectly, he might as well be a gymnast in the offseason and attempt to qualify for the Olympics with those skills.
Just deciding to fully jump over a player at the goal line was amazing, and it makes me wonder if Simpson thought to do this at that very moment or if this was something he wanted to do for a while.
Regardless, isn't this type of excitement the reason why no sport is more exciting than the NFL? This is just pure athletic talent on full display. I would be shocked if there is a greater play than this for another 10 years at either the NFL or collegiate level.
The combination of athleticism, creativity and "what just happened?" excitement makes Simpson's once-in-a-lifetime touchdown the obvious choice for play of the year.
